"However, from @mnhq Comments it's clear poor Sir Kier won't be asked about women's rights, so don't worry."

I don't think that is clear at all. I imagine in a similar fashion to their interview with Johnson they'll switch between topics.

itsgettingweird · 27/10/2022 09:27

Not sure what was wrong with piggy's post?

She actually said she'd like more questions about things affecting woman - not none.

And MNHQ did state they'd ask only one question per different topic so if all questions are the same we won't get a range of answers but a variety of topics affecting the whole of the UK currently.

And we do need to challenge them properly. Currently they are the hope for a better and more stable government. Holding them to account is important because the Tory's currently are wiping the populations belief that they are accountable to us and many are buying it AngrySad

"MI5 need to have confidence in the Home Secretary - whoever that might be. It’s a vital relationship of trust, key to the UK’s security & democratic oversight of MI5. Any breakdown in that relationship is bad for the Security Service and the government. It needs to be sorted asap"

Pritchard used to be on the Intelligence & Security Committee.

Excl: MI5 will give Suella Braverman lessons on what information she can and can't share and how to avoid future security breaches:

Home Office source said the briefing was part of “ensuring the department can abide by its statutory duties.”

They said Braverman had regularly shared sensitive government information on her personal phone and email. “She never used her work phone."

Listening to JOB this morning who had a phone in on Suella - it’s receiving pretty intense scrutiny and an avalanche of opinion from professionals pointing out the original offence was bad enough but now she’s in an even more vulnerable position as a known target for blackmail/corruption (because she’s a prat at best)

I’m irritated that they’re just not getting that they’re under intense scrutiny now. Given events of even just the past few months they should be massively cautious about not putting a foot wrong - but no, they’re still too special. And they’ve utterly spaffed the chance they had to get people back on side.

DuncinToffee · 27/10/2022 11:41

Well, this doesn't normally happen...

Commons suspended until noon as Speaker informed by Commons Leader Penny Mordaunt that she's "unable to be present until around 12pm".

Sir Lindsay Hoyle says as no deputy leader to do business questions, he has to suspend the House.

In fairness I think Mordaunt is getting sworn in by King Charles.

DuncinToffee · 27/10/2022 12:36

She was at the privy council but it is disorganised not to have appointed a deputy or whip to represent her.

Deliberately holding up proceedings? Surely not!

DuncinToffee · 27/10/2022 12:48

Shell has reported profits of $9.5 billion for the third quarter compared to $4.1 billion in the same quarter last year.

About that windfall tax....

Deliberately holding up proceedings? Surely not!

Who knows, she was probably too busy sulking about not getting the Home Office job and didn't look at the calendar.

No shows seems like a theme. Truss obviously, but Raab and Patel stopped showing up to Select committees in the summer.

the80sweregreat · 27/10/2022 13:42

What about that windfall tax eh ?
.. won't happen I bet

tobee · 27/10/2022 14:30

We should all follow the government guidelines. Turn up to meetings only if we feel like it, go off on Caribbean holidays outside of annual leave, take huge severance pay after only a couple of weeks of working, promote colleagues after we've been sacked, nearly bankrupt the company, have endless parties at work... what else?

itsgettingweird · 27/10/2022 14:31

Bravermans FB page is very interesting.

Under her post about Sunak there is 350+ replies.

Many supporting her and urging her to get rid of and stop "the illegals" (Hmm).

Many against the party as a whole but split quite evenly between never voting Tory and moving more right to reform.

And just as many furious she's been redeployed to do a job she resigned from. I think this is why they let her resign rather than being sacked.

The country is not only divided by the polo titans in charge the public are very divided too and there's a lot of far right individuals out there.

L1ttledrummergirl · 27/10/2022 14:52

Are they saying that we have a home secretary who has never been briefed on basic security precautions? Or is it that she's so incompetent that she can't cope with them? If so why is she in the job? Maybe it's because she is so full of her own importance that she thinks she's above the rules? In which case, how has she been given the job?

It's embarrassing as a country that Sunak can't seem to put together a competent cabinet, even after the examples of his very recent predecessors

And why the fuck are they now not even bothering to turn up to parliament? Are we that beneath them that they feel they are unaccountable?

It's utterly shambolic and disgraceful. This is Sunaks idea of good governance?

tobee · 27/10/2022 15:24

You would have thought it would be easy. Don't use your personal email or phone.

Alastair Campbell does a WhatsApp advert on The Rest is Politics podcast. About how WhatsApp is safe for them to use as encrypted at both ends. Obviously there was no WhatsApp until relatively recently and he says when Blair was PM he didn't even have a mobile phone. Because security

tobee · 27/10/2022 15:27

I daresay WhatsApp might not be totally safe for a home sec but you would have thought it would be first thing 9 am on Home Sec first day. Briefing on phone use etc. Which you'd have thought would be what you'd have as any minister or MP but with ++ information

itsgettingweird · 27/10/2022 15:48

She was reprimanded by the bar a few times as AG too for making comments re legal stuff inappropriately.

Her tweet about Cummings and Barbara castle being one of them.

The woman doesn't have a filter. She just spouts her mouth off over and over again with whatever is on her mind and never considers how appropriate it is.

Cornettoninja · 27/10/2022 16:08

Citizen strike anyone?

I’m so tired of this bs.

L1ttledrummergirl · 27/10/2022 16:27

I'm with you, it's pathetic. We really need that general election.

tobee · 27/10/2022 16:30
