Interesting one - what is the best life advice you have been given and what you would pass onto someone?

Listen to your anger and steward it carefully.

Hawkins001 · 22/10/2022 18:52

Trust yourself, and do what you want or prefer, as if you try to people please, you will usually always be criticised.

Hawkins001 · 22/10/2022 18:53

Weather you try to go with the group mentality or weather you try and be yourself ect

Dontsayyouloveme · 22/10/2022 18:54

Sadly I’ve never had any good real life advice but here are the ones I wish I had been told:

: do not make any big life decisions at times of high emotions
: stay true to yourself
: just because you made a decision one day, if it makes you unhappy as a result, doesn’t mean you can’t change your mind

DrunkenKoala · 22/10/2022 18:54

Do what works for you.

RosieLeaLovesTea · 22/10/2022 18:54

Takes a strong person not to be a sheep! My friend called me a sheep once for having an I phone!

Keep a foot in the workplace while children are small.
My children are now teens and I am looking at career progression while many of my friends are looking to get their first job in 10 years.

You’re more likely to regret the things you don’t do than the things you do.

SandraOMG · 22/10/2022 18:56

If you've got two choices and you're absolutely stuck on deciding which to do, the chances are there isn't much in it, so it doesn't matter which one you do. So just pick one.

I am a ditherer sometimes and always overthink, so this has helped me a lot

MavisBeacon1234 · 22/10/2022 18:58

This will totally out me if I have friends on here lol

Never trust a man that says trust me

RosieLeaLovesTea · 22/10/2022 18:58

@SandraOMG i know what you mean about dithering! It actually really stresses me out when I can’t make a decision on something. Once I’ve made it I am fine.

If it won’t matter in 6 months does it really matter now. Sometimes you can reduce that to 6 hours for something like , stuck in traffic or a broken plate or glass or misbehaving child. I try to live this ( not always successfully😀)

Veryverycalmnow · 22/10/2022 19:02

Fake it til you make it- actually works for me!

antipodeancanary · 22/10/2022 19:02

Fear not the future. Make it.

lazarusb · 22/10/2022 19:02

Don't marry someone that can't make you happy in bed.

By my dad. (My mum had an affair with his best friend when I was 11 - the advice was when I was about 17 - I gather their intimate life had been too vanilla for my dad's tastes).

RosieLeaLovesTea · 22/10/2022 19:12

@Veryverycalmnow how do you know when you have made it?

OP posts:
minticecreamisjustok · 22/10/2022 19:14

If in doubt, leave it out!

lurchermummy · 22/10/2022 19:36

Always have a little bit of your own money stashed away in case you need to leave a situation/relationship. I didn't, and there have been times I wish I had!

Thing is, if society's had the full truth on various theories, could they handle the truth or would society breakdown.

Kabbalah · 22/10/2022 19:37

Ignore what ppl say, words are cheap. Concentrate on what they do.

A GP said to me once that your medical records are like a reference to your character. If I had known before I would have told them less!
