God I adore this woman! She is amazing!

Nobody in real life gives a shit about the "knows what a woman is" crap. It's probably a couple of thousand votes, if that. Mumsnet likes to make a big deal of it. But if you vote Tory just because of that fringe issue then you're just as culpable as anyone else for the shit state the country is in.

(By the way, all the changes that you hate so much in society about trans women vs women - they all happened under the tories).

You're so right . . .

FFS is it mandatory that you GC lot have to pop up with this ridiculous phrase on every political post? Talk about shooting yourselves in the foot and totally missing the issues that are actually affecting women.

As soon as I saw the title I knew that half the comments would be about knowing what a woman is.

Tories are happy to see women freeze and starve this winter, as well as be harassed at abortion centres. Rape convictions have plummeted under the Tory rule.

But yeah, it's definitely Labour who are a threat to women.

SunneRising · 20/10/2022 21:06

I've just seen her on qtime and was disappointed to see her snidey, point-scoring smirking delivery. Detracts from the issues. I didn't think she came across that well tbh. But obvs others like her.
I agreed with the veteran woman who said we have got to stop the back-slapping, sniping poor behaviour and act like adults with a proper job to do. Tribalism helps no-one.

Pinana · 20/10/2022 21:08

IStandWithMaya · 20/10/2022 20:30

She's great in many respects.

But... her alignment with self-identification is disappointing.

How can she say she's a feminist when she supports male-bodied people (who used to just be called 'men') being welcomed into female-only spaces?

Hope you're reading this, Jess!

Yes, this! I think she's great in all other respects, but her alignment with those who think you can simply identify into womanhood really sticks in my craw.

Gloryofthe80s · 20/10/2022 21:17

Would the people that can’t stand her have a different view if she changed her opinion on trans issues?

BaggyAndWrinkled · 20/10/2022 21:18

Halstead · 20/10/2022 20:58

Marginal issue my arse.

My arse, as well.

Baffling that posters think this is a marginal issue.

Fair enough. I’m not a fan. She’s mates with Rees Mogg.

She isn't

Namechanger965 · 20/10/2022 21:21

I care about the trans issue and wish labour weren’t on board with the TWAW shite but I will 100% voting labour. Brexit/cost of living crisis aside all of the self ID rubbish has come in under the bloody tories and in the vote on buffer zones around abortion clinics not one labour MP voted against buffer zones, over 100 Tory MPs did. The tory party are not the party for women.

luckylavender · 20/10/2022 21:22

Holidayexpert · 20/10/2022 20:49

I can’t stand her facial expressions. She loves the sound of her own voice.
Big pals with Rees Mog as well!

She's not big pals with Rees Mogg

I like her but she show boats, she speaks in sound bites. Pre rehearsed lines that she wants to say, irrelevant of the conversation.

I watched her in parliament the other day and she made a comment about what everyone was saying with a pithy sound bite. But no one had been saying what she said they’d said, so it was like she’d decided what she would say and said it, even though it made no sense

I also don’t like her policies at all. I nearly laughed there when she said Keri starmer should be the next pm. Just another sound bite that was pre rehearsed she wanted to say.

What else would she say. Of course she wants Starmer to be PM. She's a Labour MP. It would be much stranger if she didn't.

Fuck.

You do realise the question was about who should be the next PM and she is a Labour MP?

I wish she didn't support putting convicted rapists in prison with vulnerable women. I just don't understand it.

Has she specifically said that? When?

colouringindoors · 20/10/2022 21:35

I wish people would be more annoyed that she was the only guest on tonight that wasn't Tory. Ridiculously biased programme.

kerstina · 20/10/2022 21:35

Was disappointed she was representing Labour tonight . I don’t warm to her . Think she is rude and a big mouth . I would rather have Lisa Nandy or Yvette Cooper .

fleurdelee · 20/10/2022 21:35

Yorkshirelass04 · 20/10/2022 20:25

She's made mincemeat of that Tory

Is there a link?

endofthelinefinally · 20/10/2022 21:37

It is labour party policy. Stated clearly by Lisa Nandy in response to direct question. I know it is already happening all over the UK, worse in Scotland where they already have self ID, but at least the current government had started to address it. Labour won't stop it, they will progress to self ID.

A million times this!

Are they real though or is it a coordinated attack on labour politicians because it happens every time.

Stankonia · 20/10/2022 21:40

Can someone explain why we can't discuss Posy Parker's rightwing Christian fundamentalists friends because that's going into a 'purity spiral', but we can slate a woman that is actively doing something for women in this country? She is not perfect. NO. She has a dubious understanding of the word woman, I agree. But how is it not a purity spiral to disregard any good she does so you can feel better when you vote Tory?

BobLoblawsLawBlogBlogsBobLoblawsLaws · 20/10/2022 21:40

Can't stand her. One of the saboteurs who cost Labour elections, cosies up with Rees Mogg. Yuck to them both.

BrookeDavisQueen · 20/10/2022 21:42

BaggyAndWrinkled · 20/10/2022 21:18

My arse, as well.

Baffling that posters think this is a marginal issue.

Voters who are worried about doctors appointments, their rent or mortgage increase, their energy bills, the cost of food, climate change and a total breakdown of social care are not going to prioritise trans/GC arguments above all that.

So yes marginal issue. Ask YouGov to do some polling if you disagree.

Leakygutter · 20/10/2022 21:42

It's absolutely laughable that anyone could think the Tories are the party for women.

Labour are getting one issue wrong. Everything the Tories do is bad for women.
