I was also wondering about this ,from a quick google it seems that MPs wishing to ask questions put their names down a week in advance .They don't have to give details of the question .Names are shuffled and drawn randomly and the winners notified .

At PMQT the leader of the opposition can ask 6 questions ,all at once or in two blocks of 3 .Followed by leader of next largest party who can ask 2 .

Then the Speaker allows the selected questioners to ask their questions .This is done with alternating parties ,one Tory followed by a Labour .Not sure where SNP ,LD and others fit in .
