I think a lot of the fury & indignation is coming from Conservatives right now.

Rightly so. No true Conservative will be glorifying this weeks mess.

Cornettoninja · 22/10/2022 10:17

I am enjoying the spluttering and handwringing nonetheless

you’re enjoying peoples fear? Fear born from
experience?

That’s sick.

@Notonthestairs huge issues like education, health and social care aren’t getting a look in whilst the tories keep pushing their pantomime of a cabinet. its distressing.

L1ttledrummergirl · 22/10/2022 10:25

I am passed the conservative games. They've fucked up badly but rather than admit their failings so that they can learn, and do the right thing for the country they repeat the shit over and over getting worse each time.

They need to give it up and let someone fix the damage they've done whilst the country has a tiny chance of recovery in the next 20 years (if that's even still possible), not keep making it worse because they don't have a fucking clue about what they are doing.

They are a bunch of incompetents and if the three being touted as leader are the best they have then they need to go now. Repair their party and issues away from any sort of power so the country can recover in peace.

Nobody is afraid of them, we areangry and disbelieving at what is happening.

Cornettoninja · 22/10/2022 10:27

I try @ClaudineClare but it’s hard to ignore the despicable stuff they come out with at times. They know exactly what they’re doing and love it.

The only comfort I can take from the tories continued rampage is that eventually they’ll crash and burn their life too. Nobody is on ‘their’ side when it comes to Tory policy.

ClaudineClare · 22/10/2022 10:27

I hope Johnson does come back in some ways. It will be deliciously embarrassing for the Tories and there will be more infighting. Early GE anyone?

itsgettingweird · 22/10/2022 10:29

Rhondaa · 22/10/2022 10:12

'It's not a joke when people can't afford to live.'

Yes and thankfully the gov energy price guarantee will help everyone. Plus of course the £400 energy bills discount for all households.

It isn't a joke that some people are struggling, my point was Labour's fury and indignation is amusing. They know BJ would slash their chances when it some to a GE. Sunak will swing it though but it I am enjoying the spluttering and handwringing nonetheless.

The cap last winter was £1200.

This winter it's £2500.

The difference is £1300. £400 won't go far when food inflation is currently also 14.1%.

It's simple maths before you add in increased fuel prices and the mortgage interest rate rise.

Even those who will receive the full £1250 coat of living payment will only just cover their bills if it's below the cap.

Labour have every right to be as indignant as the rest of the population about the touted return of Johnson.

It's not funny. NOTHING about this is funny.

Anyone who finds it remotely amusing for any reason is quite frankly missing any emotional intelligence available.

Janiie doesn't care as long as she is alright. Took her long enough to come out of hiding again.

We will continue to call her out with facts.

Rhondaa · 22/10/2022 10:33

'but it’s hard to ignore the despicable stuff they come out with at times. They know exactly what they’re doing and love it.'

What is despicable about saying Sunak will swing it but the outrage displayed my many on here and on twitter about Johnson is amusing. BJ did a good job got us through a pandemic, but he was hounded out by the media. We all know it. He is Labour's only real credible opposition.

I think we'll end up with a GE by Christmas, Starmer will get in then the shit really will hit the fan.

Cornettoninja · 22/10/2022 10:35

Employing your wide eyed innocent ‘moi?’ act has gotten old Jaiine, drop it. You stated your enjoying peoples distress.

Get yourself some help.

itsgettingweird · 22/10/2022 10:38

And I agree with everyone else.

Don't bite.

Sometimes silence is golden!

DuncinToffee · 22/10/2022 10:41

For those who can stomach it

Let's take a closer look at the man running Boris Johnson's leadership campaign: Jacob Rees-Mogg

I make regular Zoom calls to my brother in NZ. He says people’s jaws are dropping further and further with disbelief at the spiralling awfulness of the UK Conservative Party, the idea that the inept buffoon Johnson - liar, cheat and criminal - could be PM again being the latest descent into ridiculousness.

Didn’t BJ allude to conspiracy in his resignation speech? He’s clearly been taking notes from trump.

Never mind Johnson. What are the Government doing to our schools & children?

📊 #IFSSatStat: The new National Funding Formula has boosted funding for the most deprived fifth of schools the least (by less than 1%) since 2017.

This follows bigger cuts for schools in deprived areas during the 2010s, esp. outside London, where educational outcomes are worst.

Fucking hell Angry

ClaudineClare · 22/10/2022 11:05

Patel backing Johnson.

DuncinToffee · 22/10/2022 11:06

Of course

coffeeandbiscuittime · 22/10/2022 11:17

I am angry and scared about what the near future brings - not about me personally but the country as a whole.
It's a shit show either way - if a GE is called and Labour get in then it's going to take more than one term to turn all the damage done by this govt around and people have short memories, so it will be tories again.
If Tories stay in power it will be to continue to give their cronies money and to continue to ensure that the NHS and Education are dismantled.
And BJ can just do one - I detest him for how he behaved in COVID - as a nurse having had to watch people die without their loved ones. That's just one point. There are many many more reasons.

L1ttledrummergirl · 22/10/2022 11:33

One thing @Janiie is right about is that the shit will hit the fan when we get an election and Labour are elected. That's when they get to see the books properly and are able to do a proper fiscal assessment with help from the experts that the tories are ignoring.
Then we find out the facts and what can be done (if anything).

The good thing is that they will do what's right for the majority of the people in this country rather than their mates. I think we are all expecting some tough years.

Blossomtoes · 22/10/2022 11:57

They know BJ would slash their chances when it some to a GE.

Ah, you’re back after lying low throughout the chaos. Seen Johnson’s popularity ratings outside the Tory faithful? He’d make it worse, were such a thing possible.

Rhondaa · 22/10/2022 09:48

I am loving this. The outrage, the fear, the hysteria.

But but but he had expensive wallpaper! He ate cake at work, he was as bad as a burglar! The Mirror hated him!Shock.

Calm your jets, Rishi will no doubt wangle it but you've got to love all the memes of Boris returning on Twitter and giving Labour a right old fright, no?

Oh. Is there a reason your return to the thread is correlated with Johnsons potential return to parliament? We've been missing you over the last few weeks.
