Of course, one of Boris' biggest problems will be the privileges committee.

We understand No10 has already handed over documents, emails, pictures, messages.

One insider said the evidence was so damning it was likely to lead to a Commons suspension...

Jolyon Maughan reply

Remember: a decision by the Privileges Committee to suspend Boris Johnson for ten sitting days or 14 calendar days would trigger the recall process and if ten percent of eligible registered voters signed a petition Johnson would lose his seat and there would be a by-election.

TomPinch · 21/10/2022 08:57

Latest Guido Fawkes figures:

Johnson 51
Sunak 46 (closing fast)
Mordaunt 17 (looking left behind)

No support for anyone else so far.

Nick twatface on LBC saying that some MPs might support Johnson because they think he has the magic fairy dust that wins elections.

If I was American I’d be saying they’ve drank the kool aid.

I’m genuinely baffled how anyone can look at the state of our country and think the ones who fucked it up are the ones who are going to fix it. They’ve had free reign for years now. It’s like hiring a gas engineer who caused your house to explode to put in a new boiler.

TomPinch · 21/10/2022 08:59

Clownwatch:

The following have stated support for Johnson: Michael Fabric Head, Dorries, JRM.

Leadsome is backing Mordaunt.

Stunning and devastating opening from Newsnight tonight.

A lot of people have forgotten what a decent politician looks like and behaves like.

I had a scarey thought this morning. What if Boris really is the best the Tories can offer? Much as I'd like to see a Labour government I would also like to see a credible opposition.

I really think the least of our problems right now is having a credible opposition. I just want a credible government.

Newsnight was a cracker last night. The only Tory MPs they could induce on were those two dinosaurs Chope and Bone who came up with the biggest old load of bollocks imaginable. I thoroughly recommend watching it on iplayer if you missed it.

TomPinch · 21/10/2022 09:19

I missed out Chope & Bone from the list of clowns. They're both backing Boris.

TomPinch · 21/10/2022 09:20

Chope and Bone. Sounds like something you dig into your vegetable beds.

Where has Fabricant gone? I haven't heard an utterance from him for weeks.

the80sweregreat · 21/10/2022 09:28

Chops n bone
Sounds like a chas and dave tribute act

borntobequiet · 21/10/2022 09:32

Chope and Bone

Dickensian undertakers of the semi criminal persuasion.
Watch out for Granny’s gold teeth.

L1ttledrummergirl · 21/10/2022 09:43

Peter Bone on the Jeremy Vine show- "Boris stood down, wasn't removed, got brexit done, got us through covid, nearly died"

I've not heard that much shit in a while, not since Johnson was kicked out in fact.

The gaslighting fuckwits are crawling out of the underbelly.

Not as good and far less entertaining.

DuncinToffee · 21/10/2022 10:03

He has managed to gaslight Ukraine, they have deleted the tweet now.

Tory MPs are desperate and the short time scale means they're even less likely to reflect on their choices.

Do most Tory MPs ever reflect on their life choices?

tobee · 21/10/2022 10:35

That's why I worded it the way I did!

I can see Suellla Braverman making a comeback very soon.

ClaudineClare · 21/10/2022 10:38

Johnson is going to come back, isn't he? Last night I thought that was impossible, but it doesn't seem so today.

It is important that the next Tory PM is worst than the last and a Johnson comeback is a sure way of ensuring that continues.

An excellent summary of why Alexander Johnson is completely unsuitable to be PM. Without even mentioning his political failures.

tobee · 21/10/2022 11:03

Why do I keep thinking of Berlusconi this morning?

newnamethanks · 21/10/2022 11:07

Borisconi?

CormoranStrike · 21/10/2022 11:13

With each hour that passes I think the MPs - foolish men and women that they are - are going to choose Boris.

I feel like we are living in a hysterical nightmare.
