And I just can't get past how much she's styled as someone ITV would have cast as a country-dwelling wronged wife in a Jilly Cooper mini-series, circa 1986

That is so accurate 🤣

Thought this might be the best place to post this. Absolutely glorious!

Love it! I love a good old sea shanty!

TomPinch · 21/10/2022 00:46

According to Guido Fawkes (a Tory gossip-mill) Johnson's declared support (in some cases anonymous) is now 50.

Sunak is slowly closing the gap. I bet he will be neck and neck or past Johnson tomorrow sometime. He's on 39.

Mordaunt is trailing on 17.

No support for any other person as yet, so early days.

the80sweregreat · 21/10/2022 03:31

Talk on another thread of a Boris Johnson/ rishi sunak ' ticket '
.. Hopefully to oblivion. Would be a very big kiss and make up

It's true what was brought up on QT just now
If the conservative's record is so good , low unemployment, the energy crisis bail out, getting brexit done etc , then why don't they go to the country ?
Why are they so scared of it ?
It's food for thought

Absolutely agree and agreed with it when I watched it too.

Instead of telling us all what we want and telling the country that everyone wants a Tory government and Johnson to deliver his manifesto.

Prove it.

Europe right now

🤣🤣

The lettuce is a bit like the Mumsnet Chicken, lasts forever.
Unlike Conservative PMs lately

Notonthestairs · 21/10/2022 07:46

Of course, one of Boris' biggest problems will be the privileges committee.

We understand No10 has already handed over documents, emails, pictures, messages.

One insider said the evidence was so damning it was likely to lead to a Commons suspension...

Just watched a Starmer on GMB.

Was impressed.

Felt he's trustworthy and intelligent and right now that's what I'm looking for.

Notonthestairs · 21/10/2022 08:04

I'm just surprised that the Johnson supporters dont recognise the problem in having the PM investigated throughout November and all the details that it will no doubt uncover just as Johnson is relaunching himself as "strong & stable".
It's a gift to every other politician (in the Tory party and elsewhere).
He's not a unity candidate. He will have to revisit the poison well of the ERG to restock his cabinet.
The Telegraph have put out a ridiculous story about Sunak offering an olive branch to Johnson - he hasnt, Johnson supporters have simply suggested he should.
Maybe I just dont understand the Conservative party at all!

Trustworthy, intelligent and incompetent are not what the country are looking for.

It's all about the voice.

AdamRyan · 21/10/2022 08:16

Whoops! I meant competent

ClaudineClare · 21/10/2022 08:17

Nick twatface on LBC saying that some MPs might support Johnson because they think he has the magic fairy dust that wins elections.

Notonthestairs · 21/10/2022 08:19

"It's all about the voice."
That is what my Conservative friend told me last night. Substance not required.

jgw1 · 21/10/2022 08:20

Presumably the BBC and other media outlets each time a Tory Minister are sent on now, are simply going to have clipped up ready to play their previous utterances, that will no doubt contradict what they are saying today, since they have held so many contradictory positions over the past 6 months.

As one tweeter says, maybe they should pick Boris in that case. Really hammer those nails into the coffin of the Tory party.

I assume that the aim in picking Boris is to find a PM who was worse than the last one. It seems to be the aim of the Tory party.

countrygirl99 · 21/10/2022 08:22

I had a scarey thought this morning. What if Boris really is the best the Tories can offer? Much as I'd like to see a Labour government I would also like to see a credible opposition.

ClaudineClare · 21/10/2022 08:22

Is Johnson worse than Liz Truss? Might be a good essay subject for your six formers!

The opposition are completely credible compared to these rats fighting in a sack.

Sorry, misunderstood! Yes, fair point.

This is going to be a serious problem after the next general election. How can a party that only stands candidates in one part of the UK be the UK's offical opposition?

DuncinToffee · 21/10/2022 08:39

Some polls had the Tories in third place and the SNP as the official Opposition party

And yet still there are posters who are adamant that Big Dog is going to save their beloved Tories.

If anyone wants to contact their MP about a GE but doesn't know how to word it, here is a handy tool from Best for Britain
