Great so Johnson and Sunak will get 100 votes and then the members will vote for Johnson.

I'm not convinced Johnson can get 100.

MPs aren't as daft as the membership.

Are you sure about that?

Dorries?
Fabricant?
Kawczynski?

No name a few.

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2022 18:41

I might be in denial but I like it there 🤪

Fladdermus · 20/10/2022 18:43

What we have to ask is who would be the absolute worst person for the tories to pick as the new leader, because that's who they'll go for.

OP posts:
Fladdermus · 20/10/2022 18:45

So I reckon we'll get Braverman.

So its going to be Big Dog then.
Great.

DuncinToffee · 20/10/2022 18:46

A lot of MPs say they will either resign or cross the floor if Johnson gets elected again.

I think it will be between Sunak and Mordaunt

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2022 18:46

Boris Johnson very keen to run again to be PM - but Tory MPs not convinced he'll reach required threshold.

"The brutal truth for Boris is that his support has not shifted at all since he was ousted. I can't see him getting more than 60 votes. He’s done."

DuncinToffee · 20/10/2022 18:49

And further to jgw1's 6th formers, my DD found out about Truss's resignation because the politics class next door started shouted and cheering Grin

This is in blue Surrey/Hampshire borders

Yes, but that also means there are 60 Tory MPs who do think Boris is the answer.

Who knows what the question is, that Boris is the answer to, but certainly it isn't who should be Prime Minister.

the80sweregreat · 20/10/2022 16:41

The new line from Boris Johnson supporters is ;
' only a few of his back benchers wants him out , not the people '

Then they’ll want a GE, won’t they?

TomPinch · 20/10/2022 18:56

Badenoch may run again. That would split Braverman's vote.

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 20/10/2022 18:57

Well.
I think ds1 and I should have put money on our prediction 🤔
I do the De Pfeffle could stand - the man has no shame - but my gut says sunak and mordant.
Can't stand either of them but they canr be worse than Truss and Kamikwazi...can they??? 😵‍💫

Wheretheskyisblue · 20/10/2022 18:58

So far 19 backers for johnson, 21 for sunak and 7 for mordant reported on sky news. 357 tory MPs.

It’s a close thing which would be worse.

They showed international reactions on the news, the UK is laughing stock.

Wasn't that the aim of Brexit?

DuncinToffee · 20/10/2022 19:05

Henry Zeffman

One senior Labour source salivating at the prospect of Johnson redux:
^^
"In some sense, him running is the dream. Droning on about how they need a sensible, serious person to fix the mess they've made then that honking pudding turns up with his travelling circus trailing behind"

54isanopendoor · 20/10/2022 19:06

I see my MP has already voted.
For Morduant.
I wrote to him earlier telling him I'd never vote for him again if he supported Johnson.
(Id never vote for him anyway, but he doesn't know that hopefully as I do not share my political views locally)
I don't for a second imagine it swung his decision, mind you!

TomPinch · 20/10/2022 19:09

It's going to be Mordaunt, isn't it?

Truss mk II.

The Tory party are just playing a game of finding a Prime Minister worse than the previous one aren't they?

Why isn't Charles Walker standing?

DuncinToffee · 20/10/2022 19:13

Charles Walker isn't standing in the next election, is he?

TomPinch · 20/10/2022 19:13

Walker said he was leaving Parliament at the next election. Looked like he'd had enough.

I think so too.
