Well at least Liz didn't have time to change the wallpaper, so that'll be one less thing for us to pay for if BoJo gets his fat arse back in No 10.

And presumably we would only have to pay his PM's pension once, so his return does have some merit.

jgw1 · 20/10/2022 15:25

DuncinToffee · 20/10/2022 15:14

Does that mean we will see the return of janiie or whatever she calls herself now?

Oh I do hope so. I still would like to know why a 56year old banned children from having birthday parties but had to have one himself.

Saucery · 20/10/2022 15:25

Well, we know he has stopped at nothing to be PM so no reason to think he’d give up now. He seems to like wearing the skins of various factions as a costume a la Buffalo Bill because it’s not about what he believes in. He believes in Himself. That’s it.

That has cheered me up, as has the thought that you are a teacher.

I try very hard not to talk politics, but this afternoon, it is all they seem to want to talk about. Which was most heartening.

Britain has never known such a disgrace of a prime minister," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a social media post.

Comes to something when you find yourself agreeing with the Russian Foreign Ministry opinion of your PM 🤦‍♀️

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/10/2022 15:36

After last nights vote and the threat of losing the whip, is Boris Johnson still a tory? My MP still hasn't heard whether the whip was withdrawn or not.

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2022 15:37

What is so striking is how many conservative mps are still talking about what is “ best for the party”. It’s a real give away - that party still seemingly comes before country and constituents and democracy.

(I probably should add a trigger warning for Derxa Wink)

the80sweregreat · 20/10/2022 15:39

I've heard all the soundbites today , but the people going on about unity said all this about Ms Truss !
When are they going to realize that the public have had enough ??
How much more do they expect us to put up with ? It's all so shit , I am seriously fed up with everyone of them

the80sweregreat · 20/10/2022 15:41

It's always been about ' the party '
So why can't they sort it out ?
Divided and in fighting at every turn
Absolute disgrace and if this was a Starmer party doing this then the daily Mail would be screaming for a GE

the80sweregreat · 20/10/2022 15:45

Shelagh fogarty is summing up for me today !
She is as angry as I am
Brady was smirking earlier on. It's but a game to them

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2022 15:46

NEW: I'm told Boris Johnson is making plans to cut short his holiday.

He hopes to be on a flight back to the UK this evening from the Dominican Republic

twitter.com/thejonnyreilly/status/1583105735558250498?s=46&t=q4QlptdSP4BxrojpqAmMfQ

Lazy fucker couldn't be bothered to come back to, you know, do his job - but sniff of glory and the passport is out.

InMySpareTime · 20/10/2022 15:50

I thought the point of all the Parliamentary recesses was to give MPs a break from the "day job". WTF was BoJo having a break from after a summer recess, QE2 mourning break, then conference season (none of which involved any actual work or even public speaking)?

the80sweregreat · 20/10/2022 15:50

Boris Johnson is like The Terminator !
I bet Carrie isn't happy his cut his jolly break short
I hope that the people of Uxbridge get rid of him next GE if we ever get one

ClaudineClare · 20/10/2022 15:57

Maybe all this was a set up. Get Truss in. Wait for her to fuck up spectacularly, pave the way for Johnson Season 2.

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/10/2022 15:57

Some knob talking to the BBC saying Johnson has a mandate. He's clearly had his head in the sand for the last two years.
Are they all fucking insane?

itsgettingweird · 20/10/2022 15:58

Going to catch up.

But all of us in workroom today got the Apple news flash.

The atmosphere was suddenly much more cheerful Grin

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/10/2022 15:58

Brendan Clarke Smith apparently.

ClaudineClare · 20/10/2022 16:00

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/10/2022 15:58

Brendan Clarke Smith apparently.

He's a real charmer.

"Clarke-Smith has received media attention for his views on food banks and public provision of free school meals for children from more economically deprived families. He has described food banks as a "political weapon", saying it is "simply not true" that "people can't afford to buy food on a regular basis" and "If you keep saying to people that you're going to give stuff away, then you're going to have an increase I'm afraid." "

InMySpareTime · 20/10/2022 16:02

Will BoJo face "appropriate sanctions" for failing to vote with the government in last night's fracking vote?

InMySpareTime · 20/10/2022 16:02

I'd actually love it if he lost the whip for that.

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2022 16:03

I can only think there is Collective amnesia amongst some Conservatives.

If he were to get through the rounds of voting he'd only be able to do it with the Braverman/Badenoch right wing vote. Which means all the same faces around the Cabinet table & a continuation of nut job policy making.
But in addition we get 15% food price inflation, higher mortgages & rolling blackouts.

HonorHiding · 20/10/2022 16:05

From the Guardian:

The Liberal Democrats say the Conservative party should block Boris Johnson from standing again. In a statement the Lib Dem deputy leader Daisy Cooper said:

The fact that Conservative MPs are even considering putting Boris Johnson back in Number 10 shows how out of touch they really are. They think there’s one rule for them and another for everyone else.
Boris Johnson was forced to resign in disgrace after countless lies, scandals and failures. He shattered public trust in the government and plunged the UK into a political crisis. He must never be allowed near Downing Street again.

HonorHiding · 20/10/2022 16:06

I mean, you would think “has previously, and very recently, disgraced himself in the role” would in any sane world disqualify a candidate from standing.
