Fucks sakes we are back to 160,000 far right loons selecting the PM again.

the80sweregreat · 20/10/2022 14:30

I'm backing Penny Mordaunt
Would be interesting if nothing else
Boris coming back ? Not sure
Rishi isn't that popular with the electorate or the party members

the80sweregreat · 20/10/2022 14:31

The members may go for Braverman ?
Anyone but Rishi for them maybe ?

They won’t let Braverman anywhere near the members if they’re given a vote.

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/10/2022 14:47

If they can do it that quickly this time, wtf was leaving us leaderless for so long through the summer?

What is going to happen about last night's fracking vote? Can they rerun it as an independent vote?

Have the MPs who abstained had the whip withdrawn or has it been left with them?

Will the tory party decide that they should stick to the manifesto they were elected on or continue to take the piss out of the electorate?

How do we get a general election now as the whole thing stinks?

ClaudineClare · 20/10/2022 14:49

Please stop mentioning Braverman, you are tempting fate. She genuinely frightens me.

This is not democracy. This government is unable to function. We need a GE now. Although I am glad to see Truss go, I fear we might end up in an even worse place.

The opposition parties need to get together and fight hard for this. There is a good case for it.

ClaudineClare · 20/10/2022 14:53

Johnson is standing for leader.

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/10/2022 14:55

There's been a good case for a couple of years though, instead of good governance we've had the little shop of tories.
They do not have the consent or support of the public they are supposed to serve but won't do the right thing for the good of the country.
Selfish arseholes the lot of them.

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/10/2022 14:56

Johnson can fuck off.

EducatingArti · 20/10/2022 14:56

This is worth watching (and signing?) even just to see how fast the numbers are going up again.
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/619781
I'm wondering how many millions would need to sign it before they HAD to take notice of it ( or maybe I am being naive?).

westcountryfaithful · 20/10/2022 14:57

Boris is going for his Churchill moment - returning “in the national interest” !! Omg..

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/10/2022 14:58

They debated this the other day. As far as parliament is concerned it's been dealt with. The tories barely turned up their disdain for the electorate is so apparent.

Well at least Liz didn't have time to change the wallpaper, so that'll be one less thing for us to pay for if BoJo gets his fat arse back in No 10.

Agree. Those petitions are just a sop to the public.

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2022 15:05

How can Johnson stand for party leader whilst the Privileges Committee investigate whether he lied to Parliament?

All scruples are out of the window. The Tories will do anything to save themselves.

DuncinToffee · 20/10/2022 15:14

Does that mean we will see the return of janiie or whatever she calls herself now?

jgw1 · 20/10/2022 15:15

My 6th form students seem very keen this afternoon to check whether they are on the electoral role. This gives me some optimism for the future that teenagers want to engage and have their voice heard.

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2022 15:15

possible timeline:
October - Bring Back Boris
November - Boris Sanctioned by standards committee forced to resign again
December - 3rd Tory Leadership campaign in a year

don't tell me this is unlikely

Bastard.

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/10/2022 15:18

Remember what I said about Big Dog returning to his vomit?

(In another part of MN I am known as MysticBore™️ for my prognostications)

Blossomtoes · 20/10/2022 15:19

That’s good new @jgw1. I bet they won’t be voting Tory.

That has cheered me up, as has the thought that you are a teacher.
