Tesco is out of stock for everything - we’re doomed!

Logged onto the Tesco site this morning to book a slot for early November. Everything is showing out of stock! Perhaps they know something we don’t…
Apparently they only have one type of red wine to sell (Malbec) and that’s out of stock, too. Gonna be a long and hard winter.🙁

Oh I'm just about to log in and do my order....

Useitorloseit · 16/10/2022 08:54

Haven't been able to get a courgette from them for weeks!

ChecoPerez · 16/10/2022 08:55

My local Asda is the same - shelves are bare - basics are gone such as rice, pasta, naan breads, tomato purées etc!

Went over the road to the Tesco and same situ there too :(

cushioncovers · 16/10/2022 08:56

Must be a regional thing as my online shop is fine and shelves are full when you go in. I have a few subs but nothing different to usual

RedToothBrush · 16/10/2022 08:56

Quick get in the car, shops open in an hour. Make sure you are in the queue early to panic buy and ensure you have time to get to other stores in case they are out of store.

Wouldn't want you to go short on red plonk now would we?

Or maybe Tesco is just utterly shite atm...

ThatshallotBaby · 16/10/2022 08:57

Lidls has been like this for ages. Whole freezer sections empty. Things you could get pre covid are no more.

Era · 16/10/2022 08:58

No problems here. There have been gaps on shelves for months but plenty of food available

I think Brexit might be more relevant than Covid for this.

walsne · 16/10/2022 08:59

My parents run a shop, there are real supply issues at the moment, but it's not a new thing, it's been going on for months.

Maireas · 16/10/2022 08:59

Just stop this now.
It's very silly and makes people panic.
Remember March 2020?

Saucery · 16/10/2022 09:00

Must be regional supply problems. Or inept pickers / glitch in the system.Or panic buying caused by vague social media posts.
Sainsburys, Waitrose and Booths all fine where I am and haven’t heard Tesco, Asda or Aldi are any different. They didn’t have the range of tomatoes they usually have the other day but 🤷‍♀️

Sorebackandibs · 16/10/2022 09:00

Co-op is fully stocked. Unfortunately I'd have to sell the car to be able to afford a monthly shop from there.

outtheshowernow · 16/10/2022 09:01

I doubt we will starve somehow Confused

mummybearcub2022 · 16/10/2022 09:02

Utterly fed up of the gaps, nipping in to quickly get something to find it’s out of stock and having to go to another supermarket. 😡

also all the value items constantly out of stock for example the 50p value tube of tomatoe purée, all that left sitting on the shelf is the £2.50 Gino dicampo tubes. Drives me absolutely nuts.

user53852098 · 16/10/2022 09:02

Can't you just get an alternative

ouch321 · 16/10/2022 09:03

Not seen issues in store and I've been to a lot of super markets lately for non shopping reasons
Stop trying to cause panic.

RedToothBrush · 16/10/2022 09:05

Fluctuations in the pound are liable to make it difficult for supermarkets to buy imports from some places.

Tesco are known to play hard ball over prices (see the Great Heinz Shortage of 2022).

You can whinge about Truss...

But actually this is related to Brexit and Ukraine which does make us more vulnerable to price instability than other countries to begin with.

Soosiesoo · 16/10/2022 09:06

Website glitch

Or maybe there ARE some issues with deliveries and shops are struggling.
Why shouldn’t we talk about what our experience is? I mean if it’s just Tesco that is shit or it’s a regional thing, surely people will realise that and no one is going to panic buy on the say of ONE poster??

Or do you think people are so stupid they’ll read the OP and automatically think the end of the world is coming?

RegeJeanPageMeOnMyCellphone · 16/10/2022 09:07

I think it’s a regional and staffing issue. For months now everything in my local Tesco has had really short expiration/best before dates.

Grapes dated the next day, DH picked up a dessert and it was dated the day after he bought it. All the beef was dated the day I went in but nothing had been marked down either.

They are extremely short staffed in my local store so probably a knock on effect in not being able to get the food out as quickly.

All the other supermarkets here seem to have normal dates.

saraclara · 16/10/2022 09:08

I went to Tesco for veg yesterday. Loads of empty shelves. Not a green bean to be found, for instance.

This never used to be an issue, but for the last few months it very much has been at both the Tesco and Waitrose near me.

BrieAndChilli · 16/10/2022 09:08

Isn’t it normal this time of the year? Don’t they swop over to Christmas stock so a lot of things appear out of stock while they change over?

StapFooterin · 16/10/2022 09:09

The 'add' button is greyed out for every product on my app. No offers or favourites showing. Obviously some sort of glitch. Unless you knew that and were being 'funny'?

Oops, forgot to laugh ...

On answer to your last question, I refer to The Great Toilet Paper Heists of 2020 and say yes absolutely, some people really are that dumb...

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 16/10/2022 09:11

Gonna go of piste here, hows about using a different supermarket?????🙄
