@MurielThrockmorton Thankyou so much Flowers

Taswama · 25/06/2023 20:41

Thanks for sharing both.

MxEWeatherwax · 25/06/2023 21:15

Was a good read. But anyone with any common sense would know, taking all the safe guards away would be trouble.
Same as people being deprived of company/family and friends.
And don’t get me started on care homes, heads should roll .

ISaySteadyOn · 26/06/2023 12:56

Well, quite. As I said above, we're still feeling repercussions in our house. I really hate it.

I was quite brusque with school today which is not in my nature normally but I am both fed up and PMSing.

I think @CoffeeWithCheese that you are really brave about dealing with schools. I admire that a lot.

Hancock at the Covid enquiry, Absolutely chilling. I hope this bastard never gets anywhere near power again.

He's a busted flush but could be parroting the government, WHO line

Matt Hancock said he took his role as “principle responder” to a pandemic “very seriously”.

Author and journalist Laura Dodsworth: “I've found his evidence absolutely breathtaking in its audacity… He's throwing the existing pandemic plans under the bus!”

Yup.
interesting news on aspartame as I've avoided it for years
but they are clearly anti sugar too so what next?

Thames Water on the verge of collapse, that's the kind of stuff that scared me in March 2020 so I suppose at least things are happening a bit more slowly than I thought.

Sorry, this is me, I don't know why I used an old username on this thread.

justasking111 · 29/06/2023 16:15

Way back there were mutterings of water shortages post COVID which were irrelevant to how much water was in the reservoirs . Mutterings of 40% increases. The nudge theory started then

It posts under one user name in here and a different one elsewhere. I assume it’s set to revert to the name you were using so people recognise you.

There are no words for what's been happening with the banks closing accounts and spying on people's social media presence. Another thing that I suspect accelerated during the covid era.

Yep. Hence the pushing of card only places.

ISaySteadyOn · 28/07/2023 18:20

Well, quite. It's suspicious.

JenniferBooth · 28/07/2023 18:59

As a population the high compliance during lockdowns showed them they could get away with anything hence..............ULEZ

A high proportion of the public brought it on themselves

justasking111 · 28/07/2023 21:15

They've beavered away for years to achieve these changes. The solution to speed it up fell in their laps

I’m using cash more. I hate the thought of being tracked!
ULEZ is shocking, but everyone has buses every 5 minutes until midnight and from about 5 o’clock in the morning? No, thought not, sarcasm
They want everyone staying home, getting home delivery, probably by drone. 😆

DramStokker · 29/07/2023 07:14

@justasking111

“The banks closing accounts and spying on social media presence”

Why would this be linked to Covid? Are you inferring that this is another government tactic to control its populations?

’The government’ don’t seem to be supporting Coutts actions and are backing the resignations.

Lenders can refuse or close an account if they believe a customer risks their reputation. Coutts stated that Farage has racist and xenophobic views. Accounts have been closed for businesses involved in sex work or pornography.

Seems a bit odd to me to ‘twist’ everything to “they are colluding against us”. I don’t believe that Coutts were somehow in league with the government, exploiting Covid, there was some kind of ‘covert surveillance’ going on. In fact I don’t think the Tories are - at all - backing what Coutts did.

If I owned a bank - or I was an institution providing any kind of service, I don’t think I’d want Farage as a customer. I’m quite happy to read that they kicked his arse out - or rather - offered him an alternative option.

DramStokker · 29/07/2023 07:21

Right wing media tends to be a constant stream of dystopian paranoia. Seems to have influenced a lot of the thinking on this thread.

justasking111 · 29/07/2023 07:43

Has anyone had any wonky fruit yet. My tomatoes are smaller this year as are the plums. Think we're going to be eating a lot of fried green tomatoes.

Picking for Britain. 👍

Taswama · 29/07/2023 09:53

I really don’t like Farage but having access to banking is essential for modern living so should be available for everyone. Bank accounts of gender critical people have also been closed.
I agree with Voltaire on free speech.
I also support ULEZ and a bit disappointed to see the number of anti-lockdown people (like me) who are also climate change deniers (not me). But you can’t agree with everyone on everything.
