What Is The Best Potato Thing?

Mashed, boiled, chips, fried, croquettes, baked, dolphinwars, crisps, or other?

I'd go for chips, followed by mashed with cheese, butter and garlic second.

Baked, with lots of butter (which I usually hate), and a gorgeous beef casserole. Glass of red wine. That's my perfect dinner.

I think a roast potato is in the running for best food thing, never mind best potato thing!!

It's mash for me. With lots of butter, seasoning and a splash of milk. Wholegrain mustard for an exotic twist. Lashings of gravy.

We did this at my house recently, it’s a very hard choice. Then we kept adding more types and argued about whether a wedge and loaded skin should be on the list and if so as 2 separate categories.

Well, it's crisps, isn't it? You rarely get a seriously bad crisp. I consider myself to be fairly good at potato-handling. I'm quite fussy about getting the right ones for the right dish, and don't stint on butter/salt/cream/whichever killer ingredient is appropriate. But I can't say the same for everybody. A soggy chip, a dry, flavourless mash, a hard, dreary dauphinoise, a microwaved jacket potato, a grey, bullet-like roastie: they're all potential hazards in the wrong hands. But you can rely on a crisp.

Dolphinwars definitely. Turns a boring roast dinner into a pile-on. Don't let their creepy smiles fool you...

And then you have your hasselbacks, but are we saying they’re in with jackets? And what about parmentiers - just small roasts?
