Mashed, boiled, chips, fried, croquettes, baked, dolphinwars, crisps, or other?

I'd go for chips, followed by mashed with cheese, butter and garlic second.

I think I could live on most of these.

And just when you think no-one could think of something new, may I offer the vada pav, the Indian alternative to a burger, spiced mash potato deep fried in spiced gram flour batter and served covered in spiced sauces in a bread roll of some type.

Sounds lovely

My vote still goes to fried batted potato slices. Names vary across the country

Am embarrassed to say that I thought dolphin wars was on the same level as walla, I didn't realise that dauphin is French for dolphin. Still haven't worked out why you would call the heir to the throne a toothed whale

How has no one mentioned bubble and squeak? Mashed potato mixed with cabbage or kale and fried until golden with a fried egg on top. Perfect.
And the best mashed potato recommendation I heard on here a few months ago - it really makes a difference - is to add some white pepper.

Just going to say this. Or just plain mashed potato cake fried topped with brown sauce and a soft poached egg mmm mm mmm😛

Did anyone say Hash browns??

I think I’ve found one we’ve missed…spiralised on a stick, to be seen at vast profit margins at festivals.

Boxty and/or colcannon <patriotic> ☘️

Mashed with loads of cheddar added and stirred to make it stringy. And white pepper and a smidge of garlic oil.

Boulangere potatoes are my absolute favourite (sliced potatoes layered with onions and baked in the oven with half milk, half stock) until they are crispy on top and divinely melting inside.

Has no one mentioned duchess potatoes (or duchesse if we are being fancy)? Creamy buttery mashed potatoes covered in more butter and baked until crispy on the outside.

Home grown new potatoes, freshly dug, washed, wrapped up in a foil parcel with butter, salt and a sprig of mint. Cooked in a medium oven for about 40 minutes.
The smell when the parcel is opened is wonderful.
I thought boulangère potatoes were usually cooked in stock with onions and dotted with butter on the top. Never heard of them done in milk and stock.
