Mashed, boiled, chips, fried, croquettes, baked, dolphinwars, crisps, or other?

I'd go for chips, followed by mashed with cheese, butter and garlic second.

If you haven’t already do please try ‘Jannsens Temptation’ a form of ‘Potatoes Anna’ but with anchovies 👍🏿☘️

My OH made 'roast pots' this weekend for our Sunday lunch, his way (he isnt english). So he basically deep fried the potatoes in the fryer for 15 mins or so and then pan fried them in butter and salt. We had them for Sunday lunch. Oh lord they were the most amazing potatoes I have ever had. So so fluffy inside and yeah I am never roasting potatoes again in the oven

Dolphinwars with a flamin' yon.

Roast, mashed (with milk and butter) chips, wedges. About equal IMO.

GoldenGorilla · 04/10/2022 11:08

Vodka.

All of the above except gnocchi: vomit 🤮

Try frying them. Like mini roast potatoes in a fraction of the time😍

WeeblesWibbleWobble · 04/10/2022 11:15

Roasts! Everytime.
Roast here min once a week. Love them. In fact id eat just roasts, meat and Gravy

ElizabethBest · 04/10/2022 11:16

Ooh all of them!

roasties
chips
coop salt and vinegar crisps

Squidgoals · 04/10/2022 11:30

OMG has nobody mentioned latkes? Grate potato and onion, wrap in a towel and squeeze out the water, mix in potato starch or matzo meal and maybe an egg, make into patties and fry in schmaltz.

Absolutely fkn lush. They are dangerous though - have some Gaviscon handy

AnnPerkins · 04/10/2022 11:37

I do love a dolphinwars. Or what about a Spanish tortilla?

HauntersGonnaHaunt · 04/10/2022 11:43

Roast potatoes or chips are the best.

Mash is the worst.

oceanbleu · 04/10/2022 11:49

All of the potatoes. Potato pakorah is up there at the top though. Yum.

alpinia · 04/10/2022 11:49

There used to be a rotisserie chicken place near us that did a side of baked potatoes, sliced in to wedges, sprinkled in some garlicky stuff and put in the air fryer. They were perfect, fluffy, tasty insides, crispy skins just peeling away from the potato. After they closed the only reason I wanted to buy an air fryer was to try and recreate them.

Fiddledeedeeee · 04/10/2022 11:49

Dolphin nose
roasties
croquettes

In my experience a Spanish Tortilla sets new records in the realm of blandness. It's the tasteular equivalent of staring at a manila cardboard box full of emptiness in a Swindon business Travel Lodge on a rainy Tuesday.

You've been eating them in the wrong places then!

Mysterian · 04/10/2022 16:57

Probably. It has been quite a few times now.

Excellent thread. Depends who's cooking: I usually love mash in a restaurant but when I make it at home it is bland and lumpy 😞 Whereas even I can make a delicious jacket potato with butter and cheese.

MakkaPakkas · 04/10/2022 17:05

Top tier: roasties, chips, baked with crispy skin, dolphin wars, tartiflette
middle tier: mash in all its forms, potato salad, crisps, wedges, potato waffles
theres no bottom tier

PeterPomegranate · 04/10/2022 17:07

I love roast potatoes. And chip shop chips.

I’d like to give an honourable mention to potato farls (husband from NI) and also the garlic potatoes that every restaurant in NI serves. I haven’t seen anyone else mention these local specialities yet.

ladymalfoy45 · 04/10/2022 17:09

Crisps, home made chips,Janssens Temptation

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 04/10/2022 17:10

All ways aside from mash.

Mash is rank.

QuestionableMouse · 04/10/2022 17:12

These, when I have the time abs energy to make them www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/fondant-potatoes/amp

Second is a really good roast with proper gravy!

bluechameleon · 04/10/2022 17:17

Dolphinwars. No doubt. But I'm struggling for second place - it's between roast and mash. But then a buttery jacket potato or new potato is also lovely...
