Or is it just me?

All the clickbait warnings earn him money - don't they?

I am happy to be told I'm cynical but I work in marketing and he's very much an influencer. Just an influencer with a different tone and agenda.

Anyway, happy to be told I'm cynical 😊

Yes. I think he has a lot of good advice but his style isn’t for me.

doubleshotcappuccino · 01/10/2022 11:52

As I'm not auditioning for friends and just want accurate and detailed information I see no problem . Good on him I say

BruceWaynettaSlob · 01/10/2022 11:53

Spoiling for a fight, eh?
🍿

Yes! I think this sums it up perfectly! Thank you x

I used to watch his show but he seems to be a parody of himself now, the fast breathless shouting and the arm waving is too much now. He seems to enjoy scaremongering a little too much as well. I don't watch anymore

ICanHideButICantRun · 01/10/2022 11:54

I think he's brilliant. He's saved so many people so much money. He really is on the side of ordinary people, unlike so many MPs.

grubbyneez · 01/10/2022 11:57

He is well intentioned and well informed, but his writing style is irritating and often unclear, like a stream of consciousness.

MargotMoon · 01/10/2022 11:58

He gave a million pounds to Citizens Advice from that 'click bait' and also £100K of his own money to a debt charity near me which was on the brink of closing. The man's a hero, whether you like his communication style or not he helps people and stands up for consumer rights.

Oh wow I had no idea!! 😍👏

I'm really impressed with that! Thanks for sharing.

Who would replace him? He talks a lot if sense and is passionate about what he does.

I don't see anyone else trying to do this sort of role, which is important.

itsgettingweird · 01/10/2022 12:07

Fuck his style!

He's knows his stuff and campaigns effectively for the general population who need him to do so. He knows his stuff.

Many liked Johnson's personality and delivery. Look where that got us

Yes. A few weeks ago he gave someone from a debt charity he interviewed on GMB 10% of the money they needed to raise.

He has morals and how he delivers that message isn't of relevance to me.

DuckTails · 01/10/2022 12:08

I spotted him on my easyJet flight earlier in the summer with his wife and daughter and was massively impressed. He could probably afford to fly private and this was in the middle of all the airport chaos where every person on that plane had spent hours queuing through utter airport chaos and the plane itself was delayed due to staffing. Basically a nightmare flight from start to finish. He practises what he preaches.

HundredYearsOfSolitude · 01/10/2022 12:10

I find his style to be a little bit annoying BUT he does have good advice, particularly for those who are not financially savvy.

We got 3k back in overpaid council tax on our previous home thanks to his site so he gets a thumbs up 👍 from me.

Exasperatednow · 01/10/2022 12:10

At least he's trying to help people. It's more than the government is.

Shudders at the J word!

Very good points, thank you!! I think sometimes working in media and marketing with "influencers" desensitizes you.

But you are all right. And "fuck his style" is the right message here.

Thank yooou

I like him but bloody hell he speaks so fast that even text captions struggle to keep up with him!

Noorandapples · 01/10/2022 12:13

Jacob Rees-Mogg, is that you? Is somebody helping the pesky working classes again?

Expectnothing · 01/10/2022 12:16

@Noorandapples I think that's really unfair. I'm nice and I've explained why I've asked the question :/

costs nothing to be kind

He is an influencer in a way & I don't like influencers. However his motivation is clearly not just money and I think he genuinely cares.

cosmiccosmos · 01/10/2022 12:19

I like him. He's passionate and admits it when he gets something wrong. Imo he is trying to do what is right not what's best for him.

He's rare in this day and age.

Shortkiwi · 01/10/2022 12:21

He’s gone a bit overdramatic recently but I love what he’s done for the average consumer. He’s saved me and DH ££££s in council tax and tax rebate through his advice. I consult moneysavingexpert regularly for all sorts of financial matters.

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/10/2022 12:23

Irritates me too, though I think he helps a lot of people.

Chewbecca · 01/10/2022 12:24

He is an influencer but I think his influence has been positive. The way he delivers the messages is accessible, covers so many topics and he always has the consumer’s interest first and foremost. He’s done a lot of good IMO. Who wants crap messages with perfect presentation? (Well, most of the population actually but we shouldn’t!!)
