So the PM has repeatedly lied/made the same mistake all day?

She's done loads of radio today amd it seems she said the se thing in all of them.

“We have taken action by the government stepping in, making sure that nobody is paying fuel bills of more than £2,500.”

This is blatantly wrong. Households who use the average amount of energy will pay £2500. Lots of people will pay more.

Either she deliberately lied to mislead or she doesn't understand her own policy.

Two things:

• she's done this mulitple times today (and yesterday?) Why didn't someone in her team correct her after the first time?

• why haven't the radio presenters been challenging her? Or did they and what was her response?

She doesn't know what she's doing. She's out of her depth. And so is the Chancellor. I am terrified. We need a general election NOW.

We're all jaded. Personally waiting for Kwasi Kwarteng to resign, with promise of future honours as a reward.

She talks shit constantly, can't work out if it's deliberate or she's just thick.

But why haven't the radio stations been robustly challenging the obvious lie/error?

I wonder if it passed them by? Or they believed her? I've noticed a lot of people seem to actually believe the same thing.

I work with educated, intelligent people and several of them were sure they wouldn’t be paying more than £2,500 for their energy. People who shopped around for their energy provider in the past so must know basic kWh facts etc.The message isn’t getting through about the unit cost and I’m at a loss as to why the media aren’t reporting it correctly or challenging it when it’s wrong.

But aren't they supposed to be journalists and it was all over the Internet yesterday that what she was saying was wrong?

Isn't it obvious what she means?

I think the meaning of what she said is clear, but it doesn't bear any resemblance to the facts of what their policy is.

Maybe because the journalists are likely all well paid, like other people interviewing Truss, they haven't had to look into getting the best energy deals so don't really need to worry about unit costs themselves and just pay the bill whether it is £2k or £4k, so it has just gone over their heads

I reckon journalists don't understand, so can't challenge. And her advisors have no reason to correct her because she is getting away with it.

But I think a lot of households will be in for a shock when future bills come in!

Maybe I suppose, but isn't it their actual job to be well prepared for these things? Even if the first ones didn't pick it up, the later ones should have, once the inaccuracy was all over the Internet.

The Tory Party really needs to lose the habit of tearing itself apart by turning on its leader. Not saying that because I want the Tories to do better IYSWIM but because I want to swerve the consequences of one incompetent after another.

I did think that when Boris had his purge, then won their biggest majority in ages, the penny might have dropped, but no.

It just seems astounding that any journalist would be interviewing the Prime Minister specifically about her energy cap and not be prepared enough to understand it. It's not like it was newly announced, they've had time.

She'd have to call it!
