So the PM has repeatedly lied/made the same mistake all day?

She's done loads of radio today amd it seems she said the se thing in all of them.

“We have taken action by the government stepping in, making sure that nobody is paying fuel bills of more than £2,500.”

This is blatantly wrong. Households who use the average amount of energy will pay £2500. Lots of people will pay more.

Either she deliberately lied to mislead or she doesn't understand her own policy.

Two things:

  • she's done this mulitple times today (and yesterday?) Why didn't someone in her team correct her after the first time?
  • why haven't the radio presenters been challenging her? Or did they and what was her response?

This is from the Papers section of bbc news. I can't see the font clearly enough on my phone to read the text underneath.

It was horrible to hear her being so dismissive of individuals whose hopes of home ownership have been destroyed, and those who fear that the rise in mortgages may leave them homeless.

Maybe they will include pensions ? that is one of the biggest parts of the pie when it comes to benefits pot.

Ideology. Fingers in ears, la, la, la. Same response as guilty teenager: deny, deny, deny.

lots of presenters did challenge her, on lots of things. Lots of awkward silences.

But despite what the PM, journalists or anyone else who has nothing to do with an energy company says, every single one of us who has signed up to a utility contract is given the information about what a unit costs, what we've used in the past, what our usage is expected to cost, etc etc, so why would anyone take any notice of others in preference to the contract we've signed up to or official information such as that from OFGEM or reliable consumer sights like Moneysaving Expert or Citizens Advice?

We know politicians lie or mislead people. We know the media lies or misleads people. We know people on forums post any old crap. So they can say what they like. No-one in their right mind takes any notice of it, without doing their own research.

Well bully for you @BarbaraofSeville but I can tell you right now that my elderly mom will be confused. So probably will be my DD who has just moved into her first place. Lots and lots of people will be confused / misled by what LT said.

I agree, I meant change the policies not change the manager - yet again. Not clear from what I said.

verdantverdure · 30/09/2022 20:41

I'm still gonna led that our flipping Prime Minister either doesn't understand her own policy or is trying to mislead us about it, over and over again in the same rehearsed sound bites

Newmum738 · 02/10/2022 02:29

And she was insistent that it's all down to Putin's war in Ukraine. It's a factor but it isn't everything and makes it sound like it's all out of their hands.

Cant wait for the conference speech. It’s going to be comedy gold!
