Styles which you just don't get or like!

Just that really, and just a bit of a light hearted rant!

I will admit that in the past I have worn both of these things so I get why people where them and I'm not directing it at anyone individually!
BUT I just cannot bare false eyelashes or really long hair extensions. They both just look SO uncomfortable, I
don't know how anyone can really relax wearing them.
Especially the look when half the eyelashes have fallen off and there are just massive clumps of lashes left 😳😳😳😳 I just do not get it it! Whhhhyyyyy do people do this?!

Today I saw a young woman wearing cream trousers - must have been expensive they were so well tailored for her slim figure. That classic cricket white colour. They stood out in a crowd.
BUT (you knew there was a but coming)
The top looked as if it was draw-string. About 3 or 4 inches of surplus material above the tighter part. Most of you won't remember a Dolly Bags for washday!!!
Hideous! IMO.

Jumpsuits. I can't understand the getting undressed to have a wee .

Bloody love a jumpsuit! Currently hiding another from DH who thinks I have enough 😆
For me it's false stuff, I gel my nails but dislike the look of acrylics and lip fillers and false eyelashes make me absolutely cringe. I have a semi regular lash lift but there's something about fake eyelashes that really sets my teeth on edge!

Ooh, I want to play! 😄

Knee high/over the knee boots. So ugly.

Bootcut jeans.

Cold shoulder tops.

Athleisure unless you're actually going to yoga.

Face/neck tattoos.

Anything with butterflies on.

Steampunk. Your glasses or cogs on your hat make you look like a total bellend mate.

Img yes! I absolutely hate butterflies.
I can't buy anything with a butterfly on it, I find it so tacky!!

jumpers / knitwear that are cropped or missing the shoulders……cos if it’s cold enough for a jumper, sure I want some drafty bits!
trainers with heels

Ooh gilets…don’t get them at all. What is their purpose?

I wear one for horse riding, farm work etc. keeps my body warm and arms free.

I don't wear it into town 😂

Bassetlover · 28/09/2022 19:16

Cold shoulder tops/dresses, no!

SudocremOnEverything · 28/09/2022 19:19

Prescottdanni123 · 28/09/2022 18:45

@SudocremOnEverything

Its not just teenagers though. I see a lot of grown men going around with mullets as well.

They have no excuse though!

TheAntiTruss · 28/09/2022 19:25

Grey tracksuits. Why anyone would want to look as if they’ve spent the night in police custody and have just appeared in the dock at the magistrate’s court is beyond me.

YukoandHiro · 28/09/2022 19:25

Ha ha there are some things on here I love such as long culottes and mom jeans- but I love them for their comfort and casualness which I get isn't everyone's vibe.

I've never understood platform trainers. I also hate thigh high boots - they always look like sex dungeon gear to me.

pictish · 28/09/2022 19:32

Ooh oh no, neck tattoos. That was a bad fad. Flash in the pan but claimed plenty of (fashion) victims. Mostly silly men.

JoandLily · 28/09/2022 19:44

Crocs

CollieWobble22 · 28/09/2022 19:49

I thought of another. Faux leather boot cut trousers.

Saw some teen girls wearing them and they looked like they were wearing bin bags

TheAntiTruss · 28/09/2022 19:52

Those thigh boots make people look like pirates to me.

WonderingWanda · 28/09/2022 20:02

I don't know how people get anything done with any kind of long nails, mine are pnly about 3/4mm long and I'm having trouble typing. I don't like the look of long nails that are filed to a point, they remind me of fake witch finger from Halloween when I was a kid.

I respect everyone's right to have anything pierced they like but nose piercings and those ear extenders make me feel a bit queasy. The nose holes I imagine snot oozing out of it and I don't know why the baggy earlobes make me feel funny.

I hate kitten heels, they are so unstable. Also hate Birkenstocks, they remind me of uncool Mum's from my childhood and they hurt my feet.

I also don't really like the trend for contouring, dark eyebrows and loads of make up that I see on lots of younger women. It doesn't always look good.

AnybodyAnywhere · 28/09/2022 20:09

I saw a teenage girl the other day in an all in one beige coloured thing that had shorts and one shoulder strap. It was extremely tight and ‘form fitted’ every part of her body.

I wore some questionable garments in the 70s so I don’t make a habit of criticising other people’s choices. This tiny garment may have it’s place in a club or Glastonbury or somewhere but she was shopping with her Nan in Morrisons…

Principal boy in the panto, I always think.

I don’t get the Toast look of austere workwear-style dresses like pinafore ones in denim. Makes people look like they’ve just got out of the workhouse. And the sizing! I’ve tried their stuff in moments of madness and it’s all like a tent, honestly, I could pitch it and sleep in it for the night.

Enko · 28/09/2022 20:20

The idea that everyone looks good in black.. Or has black in their wardrobe

I don't and I dont.

Cold shoulder tops/dresses, no!

Very handy for vaccines

My friend calls them prison pants!!

Men like long nails. It’s visually exciting. Makes them think of a hand job 🧐

ChutneyVirgin · 28/09/2022 20:27

Dungarees. Human contraceptive

FOTTFSOFTFOASM · 28/09/2022 20:27

Fake eyelashes
Fake nails
Fake tan
Fake lips
Drawn-on sluggy eyebrows. Or any drawn-on eyebrows.
Tattoos
Flesh coloured leggings with a camel toe
Those tops with bits cut out of the sleeves/shoulder
Tracksuits
Trainers
Trainer liners with brogues
Pointy brown leather shoes
The colour grey (in houses, on walls etc)
Short skirts if you are fat

Someone upthread mentioned stiletto white boots. Who the hell wears those?

pictish · 28/09/2022 20:30

Flesh coloured leggings. Oh my very god. I have seen one or two ladies braving it. They were very…brave.

AffIt · 28/09/2022 20:31

Tops with sleeves that are intentionally too long. Seriously, why?

Those hideous Russian mink false eyelashes that make you look like you've got a weasel stapled to your eyelid. Horrible AND cruel.

I'm a HUGE fan of the younger Millennials' / GenZrs' body confidence, but I do question some young girls' comfort levels. As somebody who has always been a wee bit prone to a touch of chonk around the midline, wearing jeans that are a couple of sizes too small, coupled with a crop top, really doesn't look like fun.

Talking of younger Millennials / GenZrs: long-length boot-cut jeans. Kids, learn from our mistakes - we walked around in the rain, in the late 90s / early 00s, wearing trousers that basically acted as nasty sponges so that you didn't have to. You'll thank us later.

ChutneyVirgin · 28/09/2022 20:39

Mumsnet is so straight honestly -nobody ever has eyelash extensions or nails.

or the rest of your look like Vicars in training
