Who on earth is COD? I am clearly too new here, but I am six years and now

cod is to mumsnet as to obi wan kenobi is to the rebel army at the beginning of star wars ep IV, seen some action back in the day, now lurking in a cave waiting for everything to kick off.

@ShirleyPhallus one lives in hope.

I live in hope that MN royalty and PMSL never makes a return!

Mmm, roasties. I find Maris Piper make the best ones. And I shougle a tablespoon of flour in with mine when I rough them up in the pan.

YABU. Charlotte potatoes make the best roasties, cooked in a cast iron roasting dish.

I imagine it was just the final straw, she gets bombarded with abuse on a daily basis and something like this just made her feel enough is enough. For what it’s worth I think the roast potatoes looked great. But I am a shit cook.

No she doesn't. She tried to initiate a pile on on some random bloke and he just carried on taking the piss so she had another narc rage.

The abuse he got levelled at him for saying potatoes looked shit was insane.

AlwaysLatte · 26/09/2022 22:55

Definitely tumbled in flour, rosemary and sea salt flakes then roasted in goose fat. My all time favourite food!

AlwaysLatte · 26/09/2022 22:56

I could absolutely have sone roasties now with gravy and stuffing on a barm.
What's a barm?

DillDanding · 26/09/2022 22:57

God, that was HILARIOUS. Her fans are absolute nutters.

And they did look like anaemic Aunt Bessie's.

SausagePourHomme · 26/09/2022 21:16

it would be awful if this whole debacle distracted from some of the other questions people have been asking this cook about their patreon money.

Or the monies she begged for to support legal cases she didn’t bring

Or the monies she made from selling T-shirts that was supposed to go to charity

Cod · 27/09/2022 06:04

The replies from the rabid fans are hilarious

Plus. Remember she’s living on air. And her mum trolling her sending her pics of spuds.
her DISABLED mum she then alleges.

What a drama! I thought the chap dealt insouciantly with the onslaught.

Def. I messaged him and he’s had no clue who she was. Like many of my mates too.

A complete over reaction. You can't post something on social media and expect a 100% positive reaction. Some people are just dicks.

The fact that He hadn't replied to the original post so She would have had to have been actively searching His comment makes Her look even more batshit.

Who???

ShirtingForkBalls · 27/09/2022 06:48

Oh ok her.
Why do you care?
Such a non event.

Ocsetldil · 27/09/2022 06:56

Jack Monroe posted a photo of roast potatoes, someone said they didn’t look very nice and Jack’s Twitter account was subsequently deleted.

So yeah, let’s laugh at someone who is trying to help people eat on a budget in a cost of living crisis. Does it matter if she earns money from it? Jamie Oliver makes a lot of money and also publishes books.

Have you looked at the link in the fourth post on this thread?

There's a lot that doesn't add up about the 'help' this person is offering.

But she initiated a pile on from her deranged fans to a random
bloke who made a fairly innocuous comment. It’s her MO and she’s even described her die hard fans as ‘her flying monkeys’.

I do think this was a strange hill for her to die on, but her behaviour has been increasingly erratic lately especially since people have been digging around her background and finances and all is not what she would like the world to think. It appears she has been cos playing the poverty card and is in fact pretty well off despite convincing people that she isn’t and their are accusations that she had been falsely soliciting funds. Also a lots of things she is taking credit for - such as the ONS data capturing method were in fact not her ideas in the first place.

Spaghetti hoops with your roast potatoes?

Only if they’re rinsed.

RoseyPalm · 27/09/2022 07:50

Was reading a recipe about Hasselback potatoes.
Might try it

Whether you like Jamie Oliver or not, there's no denying that he worked professionally as a chef so he knows his stuff when it comes to food and cooking. He ran a restaurant chain giving employment and training to some young people who'd been struggling before. He ran a successful(ish) campaign to raise awareness about how shit the nutritional standards of school dinners were. He is a very successful TV presenter and cook book author. He doesn't pretend to come from a poor family or to have lived experience of living on the breadline, when in fact he hasn't. He doesn't ask for money with vague promises of what you'll get in return, and then fail to deliver any of it. He doesn't spend half his life on Twitter making contradictory statements from hour to hour. He doesn't announce that he has every fashionable medical condition going and then use these self-diagnoses as an excuse for poor behaviour and failure to get on with things.

No comparison between Jamie Oliver and JM.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/09/2022 07:52

Oh yes, and he also doesn't boast about his influence 'behind the scenes' and give wrong, outdated and potentially harmful advice about benefits and paying less for energy.

MyfavouriteisA · 27/09/2022 09:40

This thread makes me wish for that elusive ‘like’ button!

Surely nobody could defend trolling or bullying of any kind, but the hysterical (over) reaction to one particular twitter post from Awfully Molly posing genuine and reasonable questions, based on JM’s own tweets within the public domain, has made many question the validity of claims made by Jack Monroe.

Those rushing to JM’s defence seem to be unaware that she quickly responds to some tweets, in fact she falls over herself to swiftly defend herself, yet repeatedly will not answer or justify herself when challenged by criticism and cynicism of her own conflicting tweets.

JM was good at mastering the victim persona and initially garnered support from celebs and the like, and I think a lot of these people are basing their recent support showing disgust is based largely on previous trolling (which I agree was, in my opinion, totally unacceptable) and not the more recent facts and disclosures which show gaps and indiscrepancies in JM’s own claims. She refused to answer those and instead closed her twitter account.

Ooh I like those haven't made them for ages. Top tip - put a wooden spoon either side of yer spud when you cut the cloves so you don't accidentally go all the way through

OneFrenchEgg · 27/09/2022 10:37

OMG. People are insane. How do they get so furious and abusive? Is it an outlet for something? And so stupid - where was the bullying? The 'dire' comment??

AlternativelyWired · 27/09/2022 11:01

The world has gone mad. I had to look at Twitter as I thought someone might have misgendered the roast potatoes or commuted some other literal violence. Literal violence against a tuber. Poor spuds. They'll need therapy.
