She seems to be alone a lot of the time. I think everyone keeps her at arms length. She fell out with her brother years ago didn’t she.

It's never clear. Her family have, to my mind, been incredibly patient in not publicly refuting some of the things she's implied about them.

I suspect they have challenged privately because in recent years she's been at pains to point out how supportive and involved her parents and the child's dad are (though she still implies she's the primary carer), so it seems pretty clear they haven't gone NC.

I don't know about the brother but I remember her saying that her mum and dad saw her at least every week when the child was younger.

It's certainly true she seems desperate for attention but it's worth remembering that attention is how she makes money. She may isolate herself, IDK, but she doesn't lack a support network in the usual sense.

Another new article in Sundaywoman.com.
I can't do a link on my works iPad but it's easy to find.

Ouch.

Oh sorry, meant to quote the post about the SundayWoman article and say Ouch about it, not that one.

mistopheles · 29/09/2022 18:14

Please can someone please post a photo of the dire potatoes? I am also a fan of semolina during the shake up but absolutely will try rosemary in the water.

category12 · 29/09/2022 18:21

Here you go.

Roast potatoes anyone?

Meseekslookatme · 29/09/2022 08:01

Those are more shit. 🤣

Which are more shit? The ones I posted look truly dire.

JM mum's look fair enough, fairly average I'd say?

00100001 · 29/09/2022 19:00

I'm no fan of JM.

But can all the "dreadful taters" brigade post THEIRS? I'm very curious. Her Mum's look fairly standard? Not the best at all, but not "dire"? I'd say a 5-6/10?

category12 · 29/09/2022 19:01

Yeah, the potatoes are average.

But the overreaction to a negative comment on them was truly superb.

OneFrenchEgg · 29/09/2022 19:39

They just look like they haven't been par boiled or cooked long enough. Like they'd be cutting into cheese

Jack is always saying she has this massive support network in real life and she obviously does not.

You are mistaken: very wealthy, loving, involved parents; a brother and several foster siblings with their own families; her son's dad is the primary carer.

The same support network that let her and her son live in poverty so much so that she says had to sell his favourite toy and feed him weetabix and water as they could afford anything else?

donquixotedelamancha · 29/09/2022 20:10

The same support network that let her and her son live in poverty so much so that she says had to sell his favourite toy and feed him weetabix and water as they could afford anything else?

I agree it seems odd.

Her parents are very wealthy, Dad has an MBE for charitable services. Her grandad was a multi-millionaire. She says her family didn't know, despite visiting frequently.

She doesn't say why the child's dad didn't realise, despite doing much of the childcare and financially supporting from birth.

You seem to be concluding she's lying about them all being supportive and involved?

JubileeTrifle · 29/09/2022 20:31

I suspect she refused help during the poverty. I’m sure her parents, with their experience, knew it wasn’t ideal. It doesn’t seem like she was getting everything she was entitled to anyway (although the way she speaks about benefits don’t sound correct anyway).
Her son was spending a considerable amount of time with his dad from birth. It always reads to me that she got a bit of press attention and ran with that, rather than trying to settle down again with a normal job.

Well... You only have her word for that.

And she claims she didn't tell her family. Well fucking shame in her. Letting her kid go hungry/without/under nourished in her care for the sake of her pride.

00100001 · 29/09/2022 20:34

I don't think she has all these friends she claims piles round to her house for her cooking.

Why would she be feeding loads of visitors if she's so impoverished?

It's positively Dickensian, isn't it?

More like concluding she lied about her brush with poverty 🤷‍♀️

Occam's Razor and all that...

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 30/09/2022 18:24

well this thread inspired me to make roast chicken tonight and roast potatos. JM's mother's potatos look how i usually do them so i was slightly horrified to see people thought they looked horrid and undercooked/undercrispy. So i boiled mine for longer than usual, tossed them in hotter oil than usual and cooked them for WAY longer than usual in the oven.

The family say they are my best ever roasties. I feel slightly alarmed that I have been getting them wrong for so many years. Blush

I like a good news story, and roastie success is most definitely that. The crispier the better for sure!

The golden recipe!

This is the most beautiful thing I have ever read!

I love a Happy Ending . . . <wipes away a single tear>

😂

It is nice. Some good has come out of all this.

A young man professes a stranger's potatoes dire, and lo, far away (or possibly nearby, who knows), another stranger's potatoes are improved and an entire family benefits. 😂

It's that Butterfly Effect that philosophers and whatnot are always banging on about.

A butterfly parboils its roasties in a rainforest, and a family 4,000 miles away gets the best chicken dinner ever.

All of Creation is connected by the invisible threads of . . . something 🤔. . . and all of our actions have effects on others.everywhere, and we don't even know about it.

Let's make those actions good ones, people. Hasselback those spuds. Parboil them. Use good fat. Roast them thoroughly. Stick a bit of garlic or rosemary in.

You know it makes sense.
