Isn't it? Also Clav seems to have a new rival in the cutting and pasting links competition.

Russ Jones has been busy

#TheWeekInTory

  1. Our new PM, Margarine Thatcher, said she was "absolutely committed" to cutting tax for the rich
  1. Then she cancelled tax cuts the rich
  1. Truss boasted she was prepared to make unpopular decisions
  1. But her decisions were unpopular, so she cancelled them

Education minister Gullis

Says "my biggest fear of all would be to remove the charitable status from private schools", says Gullis - a policy that Labour suggested at its recent conference.

twitter.com/CallumCMason/status/1576862156875710464?t=tz8B1w6f-sRd23imHfeFAA&s=19

That bodes well.....

Notonthestairs · 03/10/2022 14:35

Gullis really knows how to get to the heart of a problem doesn't he?!

Kwarteng is due to speak at 4 ish. Anyone else wondering whether he might be slightly delayed?

FTSE and London Stock Exchange close at 4.30. I'm sure they don't want any more bylines about the market dropping as the Chancellor speaks.

(Yes I know there is 24 hour trading).

Sky News are saying 4:15. I’ll be watching to see the audience reaction.

Grin

Widespread dismay at the fact that 3 years of work has effectively been put on hold. No one asked for this.
C4 sale, online safety, BBC licence feee review - all signed off by cabinet all ready to go, all stopped. If Liz wants a whole new mandate, she must take to the country.

So they've managed to piss of Dorries. So every cloud does have a silver lining.

the80sweregreat · 03/10/2022 14:54

I'm shocked that they don't want to go after the bbc and channel four tbh. I'd have thought that would be up on the table still

Mind you, if the bbc keep on playing that clip of the PM denying a u turn yesterday ( Sunday interview ) she might be on the phone to Ms Dorries after all.

DuncinToffee · 03/10/2022 15:20

They are still going after the BBC, extracts from the Bruges group today

"How much time do you think it will take until we see the BBC start blaming Brexit for the current economic situation," asks an audience member.

Andrea Jenkyns says "the BBC is part of the problem" and fails to be impartial. She says the Culture Secretary will "take them on."

The BBC must be told to "reform yourselves, otherwise you will be reformed by Parliament," says Sir Bill Cash.

They haven't forgotten about the BBC.

Linking a thread from Adam Bienkov - he's at the Bruges group meeting.

They can't name a benefit of Brexit but apparently there are plenty to come! (Too mysterious to name obviously)

X post 😂 That Bruges group seems a little...quirky. Free speech for 5 year olds!

DuncinToffee · 03/10/2022 15:29

Only if the free speech doesn't mention anything woke or lefty.

It's all very Trumpesque, this Bruges lot.

itsgettingweird · 03/10/2022 15:50

Listened to Kwarteng on the radio this morning.

I like him even less now.

I don't think the bbc are completely impartial.

I've seen Sir Starmer get a really hard time lately from them compared to Tory's.

Today BBC4 radio with Kwarteng was the first Tim dive actually felt they've taken the Tory's on properly. And it showed how they couldn't handle it.

itsgettingweird · 03/10/2022 16:00

Thanks duncin

I'll start now and finish later when I get home again!

the80sweregreat · 03/10/2022 16:04

KK's Twitter account was a bit off I thought
' ok, we get it .. ' the sort of thing a young teen might say to their parents ! They both remind me of Lauren the teenager.

DuncinToffee · 03/10/2022 16:10

The Conservative Party conference centre is in lockdown due to an unknown security incident - nobody allowed to enter or leave "until further notice"

the80sweregreat · 03/10/2022 16:12

Oh god ! That is bad

the80sweregreat · 03/10/2022 16:17

The chancellor is on now

the80sweregreat · 03/10/2022 16:18
