The Queens funeral

This is a real good guide for all the timings for tomorrow - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60617519

The bit at the end with the Lord Chamberlain will be the hardest to watch I think, signaling the end of his service to her, as will the act of separating her from her crown.

I know everyone isn't a royalist but today will be such a sad occasion.

What are the white feathers in the hats of the guards?

Swan

What strange service, no heartwarming tributes or stories or music. Very very dull.

It’s a state funeral! Honestly I despair!

Bretonbear · 19/09/2022 12:23

Benefi · 19/09/2022 12:22

With the exception of the admirable bearer party, I'm underwhelmed.

What did you want? Marching bands?

You're not allowed to be underwhelmed apparently

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 12:21

Why not harps and violins and choir singing?

The choir was singing throughout and organ music is usual for a religious service. Why would they have violins and harps? That would have been weird.

the80sweregreat · 19/09/2022 12:24

Diana's wasn't a state funeral ( I'm sure I'm right there ?)
It was much more personal.
They drove her up to Althrop afterwards for a private funeral.
The Mounties are amazing.

KermitlovesKeyLimePie · 19/09/2022 12:24

Did anyone spot Angela Kelly?

Bretonbear · 19/09/2022 12:24

I despair! Get a grip

@JustLyra Beatrice definitely sat next to Harry and Meghan!

I didn’t say she didn’t. I said Eugenie wasn’t sat next to him.

which she wasn’t. Harry, Meghan, Beatrice, her husband, James and Louise. Then an aisle and Eugenie.

So Eugenie didn’t have to move.

Jellykat · 19/09/2022 12:24

Glad theres no clapping, so far..

Bemyclementine · 19/09/2022 12:24

What a spectacle, this music is outstanding.

LetMeSpeak · 19/09/2022 12:24

The Crown Jewels arent going to be buried with her right?

LondonWolf · 19/09/2022 12:24

Oh the Mounties are magnificent!

Treason. Off to the Tower for you.

RedDwarfGarbagePod · 19/09/2022 12:24

I think it was a fittingly 'bland' funeral for somebody whose trademark was not having opinions. I'm sure the family's private service will be more personal.

QuebecBagnet · 19/09/2022 12:24

Do you think the Mounties brought horses over or borrowed them?

SnottyLottie · 19/09/2022 12:24

I’m a sucker for a Mountie 🥰

ShirleyJackson · 19/09/2022 12:24

It was done properly, according to protocol and tradition. Exactly what ER was all about.

Yes, she was there.

the80sweregreat · 19/09/2022 12:06

Such a dignified service , but the lone piper as he faded away set me off again.

Yep, I totally went at that point 😭

I have friends out there involved in this - such a proud and sad day for them….

Elderflower14 · 19/09/2022 12:24

Loving the Mounties...
Reminds me of Due South.....

Flowersintheattic57 · 19/09/2022 12:24

Love that the RF are walking in step with the sailors

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 12:25

Apollo...I was specifically talking about the end!!

Light instruments, heavenly instruments.
Who cares if some folks think it's weird if it's better!

MarshaBradyo · 19/09/2022 12:25

I thought it was very beautifully done

I’m not sure what people are missing - more personalised emotion?

I don’t really want that. I didn’t know her personally but she was a monarch and a grand public state funeral seems fitting.

I suppose you can’t please everyone

ShirleyJackson · 19/09/2022 12:25

Jellykat · 19/09/2022 12:23

Swan

There’s a man with a broken arm somewhere whose job was to collect them.

KosherDill · 19/09/2022 12:25

HeidiWhole · 19/09/2022 12:23

Crumbs the RF are walking behind again. I bet they can't wait for a proper sit down

And a few gins!
