This is a real good guide for all the timings for tomorrow - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60617519

The bit at the end with the Lord Chamberlain will be the hardest to watch I think, signaling the end of his service to her, as will the act of separating her from her crown.

I know everyone isn't a royalist but today will be such a sad occasion.

And Elgar now

The service was so impersonal and underwhelming. I don’t understand it at all. No memories from her life, I’m really confused how she was so remote from her own funeral.

State funeral though...the family will have their private service later.

ShirleyJackson · 19/09/2022 12:12

That organ is reminding me of the famous ‘bashing the keyboard with my tits and hoping for the best’ quote from MN days of yore.

This is the public service. There’s a private service for the family later.

I agree, but I think there is now a personal one for the family?

Bouledeneige · 19/09/2022 12:12

I imagine the private interment service will be more personal. This is just the state funeral

MrsTimRiggins · 19/09/2022 12:12

Such a long walk!! Bless them

In a way it wasn’t a funeral for Elizabeth the person, but a state funeral for a monarch.

the personal bit will be for her family in private at St George’s later

MarshaBradyo · 19/09/2022 12:13

Come to think of it the orb does look it would be precarious on top but hopefully not

Beatrice and Eugenie seem to have left their rows - I wonder if they’ve gone to get their children perhaps?

Or maybe too upset to walk down

I thought it was to line up for the procession but they don't seem to be in it. Maybe for the later exit of the rest of the royals or something, though why they couldn't just go out of the pews in backwards order like the rest of them, I don't know.

the80sweregreat · 19/09/2022 12:13

I thought they would mention her life a bit a more. Maybe it's just not the done thing at a state funeral ? Maybe they will do more at the closed ceremony that's not on tv?
Much more personal.

I thought this too. Even when they mentioned something she had done - like being head of the commonwealth - then it was just a prayer to God thanking Him for her service to the commonwealth.
I think the personal stuff will be in the private family funeral, not the public state funeral.

GaffNest · 19/09/2022 12:13

Oh no it’s not...the organ dirge continues..

Benefi · 19/09/2022 12:13

Why are people complaining about the organ? This is what organs sound like.

im not sure but maybe because this is the service for her in terms of the office she held, whereas the later services might be for her as a person/family member/friend?

This is for the world. The private internment happens later.

LetMeSpeak · 19/09/2022 12:13

So if George and Charlotte stayed homHarry and Meghan would’ve been sat in the front row.

Yes, I was about to say the same. More about the mother and grandmother.

RhubarbFairy · 19/09/2022 12:14

When are they removing the crown etc? I thought that was being done at the Abbey?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 19/09/2022 12:14

Such a long day for the family. They must be shattered.

the80sweregreat · 19/09/2022 12:14

Those pall bearers have done so well
Must be so stressful.

MarshaBradyo · 19/09/2022 12:14

I’m ok with the lack of the personal

I’m sure there’ll be more at the private service

They haven’t walked up with their husbands and the rest of the royals.

SnottyLottie · 19/09/2022 12:15

Organ music sounded terrible. That moment of silence between tunes was far more poignant and beautiful.
