I am wondering how long the queue is and how the organisation is working out. Are there enough toilets? Is it true that the wristband allows you to leave and come back?

Estimate is 11 hours at moment. Not sure how easily they could rejoin you later on.

I'm here now with my 5 year old twins. Debating whether my hubby takes the kids back to the Airbnb and I queue through the night...but if the tracker isnt inaccurate I don't know what to do!

Do you mean you’ll keep them with you the whole time if not?

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 17/09/2022 17:16

No I think they would go back to the Airbnb with DH and I'd queue through the night alone. I don't think they would manage 12 hours...

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 17/09/2022 17:16

But I wouldn't manage 25!!! It's a shame the tracker is so inaccurate

I think you’re right it would be very hard on them imo

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 17/09/2022 17:21

No there is no question about the children joining the queue. It's just there is a big difference between 11/12 hours and the official wait time. I'd queue through the night but I just couldn't do a 24 hr stint. I'd be falling over!!

I'm confused
the official wait time is 11 hours?

Wow! Makes sense though.

@SpinCityBlues

That’s an interesting point regarding taking vows: I was watching the live stream and noticed a number of ex-servicemen/women come through the Hall over the hours and also some cadets. It made me wonder just how many people in the country have, at some stage during their life, taken a vow to HM (military, police, politicians etc)?

Everyone who has been a rainbow, brownie, guide, beaver, cub, scout etc. will have promised to serve the Queen.

Hasn’t the vow changed now and doesn’t include the monarch?

SpinCityBlues · 17/09/2022 18:06

The grandchildren are keeping vigil now

My error. It’s god that has been taken out.

Porcupineintherough · 17/09/2022 18:07

@PriamFarrl don't think so, at least not in the UK. I think you can leave out God now though.

SpinCityBlues · 17/09/2022 18:09

Poor James, he seems too young to be doing this. Obviously they are all being looked at.

LIZS · 17/09/2022 18:12

It seems ironic that he is doing this after all the negativity around William and Harry being displayed at Diana's funeral at a similar age. Presumably he was given a choice.

SpinCityBlues · 17/09/2022 18:15

James is just a kid having to do the same ceremonial 'job' here as very experienced adults in their 30s and I think William is 40? His parents are watching and look anxious. Luckily it was brief.

Antarcticant · 17/09/2022 18:23

Does anyone know what is the medal worn by Viscount Severn? He is too young to have done military service - is it something to do with his title?

The diamond Jubilee medal and the platinum jubilee medal is going to be my guess.

He was given the choice I believe, and Sophie doesn't strike me as the type of woman who wouldn't put her foot down for her children. She looks rather formidable to me 😳

@Hillsmakeyoustrong / hi there / I tried to PM you. PM me.

Hels20 · 17/09/2022 18:39

Re James - son of Sophie. Isn’t it a bit different to doing it for your Grandmother rather than your Mother?
