anyone queuing to see the coffin in London atm?

I am wondering how long the queue is and how the organisation is working out. Are there enough toilets? Is it true that the wristband allows you to leave and come back?

William's there as well. Any Mnetters in those parts of The Queue?

LIZS · 17/09/2022 12:44

Woman was stroking William's arm! Shock

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 17/09/2022 13:02

I got to Southwalk Park at 8.30am and now I am at HMS Belfast. Weirdly, time has gone quickly so far.

Hels20 · 17/09/2022 13:04

I’ve been queuing in the Westminster snake for 53 mins and am in the second section which has about 25 rows and am up to about row 14. So B14. I think another hour to go but I am rapidly fading. I could see traffic was stopped on Lambeth Bridge but alas couldn’t see William or Charles. Bad timing on my part!! But I am pleased they came to the queue - it really is extraordinary. I am at 10
hours and 35 mins so far. And when I started they were saying 25 hours and advising people not to go (according to the official tracker…)

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 17/09/2022 13:09

sending postive energy thoughts your way @Hels20 - chin up, nearly there!

EmmaH2022 · 17/09/2022 13:15

Im abroad at the momet. People are talking about the queue here. The general consensus is that English people are totally crazy to queue for 14 hours during the night, in the cold, to see the dead queen. That the level of fawning is absolutely bizarre.

Do you see that it is not normal? Its very weird

Foreigners are flying into the UK from various countries around the world to pay their respects.

Think you'll also find people around the world like to queue up for hours for even trivial things such as Black Fridays. Remember the mad scenes of folks grabbing other peoples things?

People around the world did mad things during the pandemic too.

Human Beings have ALWAYS been weird and irrational. It's not new.

Why don't you concern yourself with what you're doing today instead of obsessing about what others are doing in paying their respects to the Queen?! 🤦‍♂️

beccahamlet · 17/09/2022 13:52

@Hels20
So you set off at 2.30 am? How much longer do you think it will be?
Good luck.

Janesdufflecoat · 17/09/2022 13:56

Love this photo! I think I would look like the lady in pink! 🤣

I’ve been lurking for ages, sorry… you can do this Hels! How much further do you have to go? Can you sit down on the ground for a bit?

IncessantNameChanger · 17/09/2022 14:04

Went in about 12.45 so about 13 hours of queueing. I'm in oain now 😟 just missed changing of the guard but saw them.come to the top.of the stairs.

It didn't feel or look real. It was so perfectly done.

You've never been part of queues to see other heads of state after their deaths, queues for the pope, people taking part in religious processions and big gatherings while you're 'abroad' then?

I have, its fascinating, dramatic, entertaining.

sunglassesonthetable · 17/09/2022 14:10

I know that. That is why people keep going along with it.

Lots of expertise on show.

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 17/09/2022 14:15

@IncessantNameChanger we are at the Globe now. How long from here do you reckon?

DysonSphere · 17/09/2022 14:17

MomwasCasual · 17/09/2022 11:53

Someone better let the organisers know to send that massive queue of English people home.

Sandra's in Tenerife right now, and the general consensus from 'Abroad' is that it's all a bit weird.

Time to break it up chaps, soz.

😂😂😂

DysonSphere · 17/09/2022 14:20

EmmaH2022 · 17/09/2022 12:34

Moo "It is hard to admit that you have been an idiot for centuries"

Six hours I'm afraid for us but take off the two hours we lost for the rehearsal

Janesdufflecoat · 17/09/2022 14:39

Well done incessant!

theshadeofgreen · 17/09/2022 14:42

Does anybody know the time it takes to get from Security to inside please?

BlooberryBiskits · 17/09/2022 14:43

Loved catching up on todays posts - hang in there queuers!

Very useful post from @Justqueued & heat warming to read ❤️

Re the Sikh charity handing out crisps - cracking update.

This is quite characteristic of the Sikh faith - all Sikh temples (gurudwara) have a dedicated kitchen where the congregation make & serve food. Usually when (any) people visit a Sikh temple part of the experience is sharing a meal. The food is always free & offered to anyone of any faith or circumstance as we (humans) are all one family

I’m REALLY delighted that news of the ‘Elizabeth Line’ aka ‘The Queue that can be seen from space’ is now the talk of ‘abroad’

No excuses for anyone who sets foot on this sceptred isle to push in claiming not to know the etiquette from now til evermore
