I'm going to a bug M&S foodhall tomorrow, for the first time in about a year.

Any recommendations?

If they are doing the Marmite butter it’s amazing on toast.

They've got quite a good Italian themed £15 family meal deal offer at the moment. Two x 2 person mains and 4 'extras'

We got half a marinaded chicken, a 2 portion lasagne, garlic bread, arancini, antipasti selection and tirimisu. Was very nice and good value I think.

We also get all our eggs from there. 15 mixed free range eggs for £2.15 and probably some of the best value supermarket eggs.

Last time I was in I got some lovely butter biscuits for £1 with a scalloped edge. I wanted shortbread, but they didn't have any except a large pack for £3, so I got those and they were really nice.

Can of butternut squash and sweet potato soup. £1. It's cheaper than Heinz or Baxter and scrummy.

Yes, some of the prices have increased. We've always had the 2 for £5 bacon and sausage, which is now 2 for £6 and the 3 for £10 meat is now 3 for £12. The deli selection is now 3 for £8.

I don't think I actually buy much that isn't on offer there, so I don't know if the underlying prices have increased, because I almost never pay them.

That's reminded me, I get my tomato soup from there. I think its the same as Baxters (which I much prefer to Heinz) and it's only 50 p, or it was last time I bought it, which I think was pre-summer. I might look out for the squash and sweet potato one too.

Redcurrant puffs… very moreish.

Marmite Pinwheels made with Cheddar and Red Leicester. Lovely

The feta dip is incredible (get 2!)

Make sure you ask one of the staff to recommend some pairings for anything you buy 😅

The custard choux buns are another MN favourite. If you go alone, eat them in the car before you get home.

Keep your eyes peeled for red shelf edge stickers - I pick DS up from outside a M&S foodhall every wednesday at 5pm and always pop in for a peek to find reductions. Last week they had a lot of groceries reduced - must be lines that haven't sold well as they were nowhere near use by date. Big pack of granola reduced from £4 to £1.25, a jar of chocolate truffle sauce for about 80p, a jar of beef stock reduced from £3.50 to 84p and a few other things too.

Steak cut chips are a perfect pairing.
