Will it be Continuity Truss or "Socialist" Sunak in charge?

If King Charles didn’t want her there, she wouldn’t be allowed to be there. He’s no pushover. She may be pushy, but he’ll be welcoming another Prime Minister pretty soon.

Lovely Pathe newsreel of Queen's visit to Edinburgh after her accession.

"No10 clarifying today that the PM is not going on a tour of the nations with the King (that description had raised some eyebrows). Her role will be attending the services of reflection in Wales, Scotland and NI."

That seems very sensible.

That seems very sensible.
It does. Wonder who in the media thought misrepresenting that would be a good idea?

"LONDON, Sept 10 (Reuters) - Prime Minister Liz Truss will accompany King Charles on a tour of Britain's four nations to lead days of national mourning for his mother, Queen Elizabeth, her spokesman said on Saturday."

The Telegraph then picked it up yesterday evening.

The King and Liz Truss to tour the UK to share the grief of the late Queen's death.

www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2022/09/10/king-liz-truss-tour-uk-share-grief-late-queens-death/

Was it misrepresented or was the original message misleading?

So will there be 3 different memorial services in the devolved nations? And she's going to all 3?

And she went to the one in London. Too much.

mibbelucieachwell · 11/09/2022 13:17

Presumably not even all the members of the RF will attend all the services?

'One of the things that was so important about the Queens work was that she kept Monarchy and government separate in the public eye. Her meetings with PM have and always will remain private - as they should.'

You think Truss has just decided to go on a jaunt with Charles? I'm guessing they are following some ancient protocol.

I don't care who's decision it was.

I'm allowed my opinion that I don't agree with it 🤷‍♀️

The bottom of the barrel has officially been scraped

The ghastly Gullis, the ex teacher who left 3 schools in 4 years, the braying spluttering apology of an MP has been appointed Dept of Education Minister

Is truss deliberately trolling us now?

Gullis AND Jenkyns.

Yes one gives the middle finger to the British public, the other brays and shouts and jeers from the back benches, now the front benches

I have heard him interviewed more than once in the Great hall outside of hoc, and he truly was abysmal. Bigoted, rude and unpleasant

Piggywaspushed · 11/09/2022 13:45

She has filled the DfE with grammar school fans. The slightly more capable woman she has appointed represents a selective constituency.

DowningStreetParty · 11/09/2022 14:29

I wonder if the Truss accompanying plans have been scaled back or if it was misreporting, or was a case of Number Ten trying to vision it into being? Either way, anyone should be able to attend a church service and I think it’s fine that Truss attends one in each nation as new PM. Please not by bloody private jet again, though.

Very good news. Thank goodness someone somewhere realised how awful the optics would be and put a stop to it.

countrygirl99 · 11/09/2022 17:03

I wonder if it was a misrepresentation or a whoops, that doesn't look popular.

itsgettingweird · 11/09/2022 17:09

Will the first ministers of each devolved nation attend too?

With they, I mean the Tory government not just those 2.

Novum · 11/09/2022 21:54

Which of those two idiots in education gets to take over the SEN brief from Will Quince, I wonder? At least he seemed to have a reasonably genuine interest, even if the reform proposals were mostly utter crap.

Piggywaspushed · 12/09/2022 19:30

This is Gullis
