I hope you're right @OwlsDance.

I've just had 3 pathetic panic attacks in a row over something that hasn't even happened and if it were to happen, I'd have no control over anyway.

Just saw a picture of him on a homepage on the news and I feel so angered that this man has done so much damage to SO many people all around the world in different forms.

TarasHarp55 · 20/09/2022 20:39

Sorry to ask. What exactly is "mobilization"?

Postponed to 8am Moscow time tomorrow (6am here?)

I think he's playing up a) because the 'special military operation' is not going well and b) he's pissed off about the UN General Assembly where basically everybody who is anybody in the world are all in a room saying what a twat he is.

Let's hope it's just bravado, for all our sakes.

TarasHarp55 · 20/09/2022 20:47

*Mobilisation

OwlsDance · 20/09/2022 20:48

Some of the tweets are hilarious.

"Putin has conducted a strategic redeployment away from his own speech"

"I think the speech was so awesome, it was hypersonic and no one heard it"

There's speculations he's been taken out... we can only hope!

It's a euphemism for instituting involuntary military service. This would be very unpopular and an admission of failure, but Putin has run out of cannon fodder.

katem98 · 20/09/2022 20:50

I actually think it would be less humiliating/ embarrassing for him to just pull the army out of Ukraine rather than continue the war.

MagicFox · 20/09/2022 20:54

I agree @katem98 and he could spin it in any way he wants. But he seems to be doubling down

He can't say, "sorry guys, it was a bad idea" after spending billions, breaking his army, and costing thousands of lives. He wouldn't survive it, so while it would be the best thing for the country, it would be fatal for Putin.

katem98 · 20/09/2022 20:58

@MissConductUS Oh I definitely don't think he'd just be able to admit a mistake. I was meaning more of a spin it how you like! Seems that his country believes every word he speaks so it shouldn't be too hard to come up with a little lie believable enough.

I would simply say "Good!" except possibly better the enemy you know, and whoever takes over might actually be worse.

Yes, it's true @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

Thankyou. I thought something like that. I just worried in case it meant mobilising his nuclear weapons.

TarasHarp55 · 20/09/2022 21:11

Just one man causing all this misery and suffering. One man should never have that much power should he.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 20/09/2022 21:16

No agree @TarasHarp55

It's understandably a bit confusing. It's unlikely that they would announce the movement of nuclear weapons, but it's very closely tracked by satellite reconnaissance. We know where they are stored, so those locations are watched very closely.

RedToothBrush · 20/09/2022 23:12

It could simply be an announcement about the annexation, and if anyone attacks 'Russian soil', they will act accordingly.

This doesn't necessarily mean nukes. Next step would be full mobilisation.

Either way, it doesn't look like a man in control if he can't even do an address to the nation at the time it was supposed to be.

prettybird · 20/09/2022 23:25

My fear is that Putin, when running out of options and on the back foot, will revert to the cornered rat that inspired him as a young boy: not vowed or giving up but instead jumping at the throat of those that are cornering it (him).

Sad

But it's also why Ukraine can't give up. A cornered rat is just that. Cornered. And a rat. Shock

Let him be and the rat colony will grow again (to extend the metaphor nearly to breaking point ) Hmm

Newsnight reported that he delayed until the morning (8am Russian time) so that the Far East will get the news?

‘Either way, it doesn't look like a man in control if he can't even do an address to the nation at the time it was supposed to be.‘

I just took it as an extension of his old habit of using lateness as a psychological weapon.
