I've just heard that Darius has been found dead in an apartment aged 41.

How sad. Not someone I know a lot about.

Oh how awfully sad. I always remember him, I watched it when I was just a kid with my older cousins and had a bit of a crush on him! Can’t believe he was only 41 too. Terrible. I will keep his family & loved ones in my thoughts.

That’s so sad. I have a friend with a profoundly disabled son and they have met many famous celebrities during fund raising events. She has always said that Darius was the nicest of them all. No publicity shots or reports of what he was doing, just a genuinely lovely man who took the time to make a 9 year old very happy. RIP Darius.

Oh how sad - he started with such a cocky persona but seemed to develop into a talented jazz/musical singer and a nice guy. Far too young.

Am shocked at this as met him in Bermondsey co-op many many years ago not long after he was on that show, he was recording in a studio nearby. He was soo lovely and gave me an autograph for my son and so down to earth. Very sad new for his family and friends. R.I.P.

oh poor Darius. RIP . Whenever he came home it was like Elvis had arrived when he was out & about locally! He did selfies with anyone who asked & was supersweet when I served him in local shop. Gorgeous fella.

I loved him and his music. Same age as me. I was gutted about Olivia Newton John but this even more so. Really really upset.

So sad to hear this. I was a huge fan after Popstars and Pop Idol and saw him perform many times. So handsome with a beautful singing and speaking voice. I was lucky enough to meet him on several occasions and he was just lovely. He was warm, funny and so kind. Taken far too soon 😦

I have met him in person only hen do. Massive Darius fan and I had been to see him in “From Here to Eternity” in the west end. One of my friends knew someone in the show and arranged for me to meet him as a surprise. He was the nicest guy. So handsome and he gave me a big hug and posed for loads of pics with me and lots of excited ladies.

I also saw him in “Funny Girl” with Sheridan Smith and when he was in “Chicago”. He never got the true recognition for his talent. So sad.

Gobsmacked. So young too! Olivia Newton John's death upset me, and shocked me, but she was 73. Not hugely old, but a more acceptable age to pass away. Darius was 41 ... That is NO age! R.I.P. Darius! 😘

I remember him from the first Pop Idol series. I’m glad that the Guardian reports no sign of ‘intent’ or ‘suspicious circumstances’ so presumably he died of natural causes. Still very sad though.

I sat next to him once at an event he seemed very kind - he was so much more beautiful than even he looked in pictures, and tall too! So sad for his family and friends.

That’s really awful news. His poor family. I listened to his album a lot, years ago, he had such a great voice.
