I've just heard that Darius has been found dead in an apartment aged 41.

I have just found out too. It's so sad. Poor man. Sending love to his family. xx

Just heard this news. So, so sad for his family and loved ones. And really surprised by how it has affected me. Wouldn’t have described myself as an admirer at all, but he was so young and very talented.

Shocking! I really loved his song Colourblind. Far too young.

I’m quite surprised at how much this has upset me, some deaths really do shock you. RIP Darius you beautiful man.

42? That's no age

I've just found out and very saddened to hear this. A very talented, genuine and likable young man, he reminded me of my younger brother in looks, height and personality I think that's why I feel unusually emotional about the news. My thoughts go out to his family.

I went to his concert when I was young and remember serving him when I worked in a clothes shop in Glasgow as a student. He was lovely and seemed so down to earth. Very sad indeed.

I did too, I remember being out driving on a sunny Sunday afternoon and it came on the radio. Time has flown I was 21. I still have both his CDs. Will have to give them an airing.

Very shocking news. Really wasn't expecting this tonight. Met him about 18-20 years ago.

This is so sad. I loved Darius, he was such a character.

Was shocked to hear this. He was a very popular and liked man. His poor family and friends. So sad. Lots of lovely comments online which makes a change as some people can be real nasty. I wonder why they didn't release the sad news when it happened. So young, RIP

I'm surprised by how much this news has affected me. We were at playgroup and the first couple of years of primary school together. He then left, but we all remembered Darius. I remember him as being confident and assertive even as a young child. When he reappeared on TV 15 or so years later we were all taking about him 'Darius is on TV'! I never followed his career and so was in no way a 'fan' but I think his death has hit me hard as it's the first time that someone I've known who is my age has died (perhaps there are others but not that I'm aware of). It's hard to put into words but I have a strong memory of us together in playgroup and part of my brain can't process the finality of death.....

When I saw the Britney audition I thought he was a total bellend, but then it became obvious from the other footage they showed on Pop Idol that he really was a lovely, kind and genuine person. So sad, poor man.

He came across as an absolute gentleman, very genuine and hugely talented. This has also hit me hard...much more so than deaths of people in the public eye usually do (barring the obvious sadness for them/their family, loved ones and friends). Possibly because he’s only a few years younger than me, and I remember liking him back in the day - His humility, thoughtfulness and intelligence shone through, never mind his obvious talents and his beautiful looks.

This is just so sad. His poor family.
