I'm actually enjoying the summer, but I'm a real autumn person. I love the back to school feeling of September, the first smoky smell of autumn in the air, the crisp air and lovely coloured leaves. Anyone else want to share how much they love it or what you are looking forward to?

Me, I love it. I am eating an apple and thinking about pork casseroles and jacket potatoes.

crochetmonkey74 · 08/08/2022 19:03

Yes the autumn food is also a good point!

I’m up before 5am to go to work. I had to turn the light on this morning for the first time in months. I was very happy at the thought of autumn coming and this heat sodding off.

Fairyliz · 08/08/2022 19:11

Nooo don’t wish summer away. We have months of cold just enjoy the sun while it is here.

GoodVibesHere · 08/08/2022 19:15

I love autumn. It really is just around the corner, and I can't wait!

Holly60 · 08/08/2022 19:22

I love summer and am really enjoying it but also love autumn. Crisp mornings, smoke in the air, hot coffee and cake from a cafe.

The sense of normal business resuming in september

Justmuddlingalong · 08/08/2022 19:28

I washed all the cosy throws and blankets in anticipation today. Although I'm grateful for the warm weather which got them dry on the washing line.
I actually commented to DP that the night's were drawing in the other day. I can't wait. I love, love, love autumn and winter. 🍂

Lottapianos · 08/08/2022 19:29

Autumn food - best ever. I do enjoy the sun but this heat is too much! I enjoy a crisp morning, golden leaves, the return of Strictly, early bedtimes with a book, having a good wardrobe clearout and buying new bits

Winter seems to go on forever and I really can't stand Christmas so Autumn is my happy place!

It’s currently 26 degrees in our flat, which is the coolest it has been all day. No outside space. I haven’t had a decent nights sleep in weeks. I think I’m menopausal so if I wasn’t sleeping on towels, I’d have to change my bedding on a daily basis. My ankles have swollen up in the heat. I’m constantly clammy. There are swarms of wasps everywhere. I have 3 fans on which are just blowing hot air at me. I’m miserable.

Roll on autumn, where you start at a reasonable temperature and can then add or take off clothing until you get comfortable. No sweating unless you want to. You can put the slow cooker on in the morning and it’s not too hot to eat when you get home. Going for walks is nicer. Chocolate doesn’t melt before you get a chance to eat it. They have log fires in nice country pubs. Christmas is on the horizon. I’m counting down the days!

Where I grew up in Yorkshire we used to say the weather was “getting a bit back-endish” as August trundles it’s way into September…
Im much more of a Spring person.

Trivester · 08/08/2022 19:51

It feels like New Year to me, much more so than January 1st which never feels like the start of anything at all.

I think it’s because school starts, and we all get back into nice routines after the chaos of the summer, and it feels like time is moving forwards after stagnating for the summer. It seems to slow again in Jan/Feb but not in that lovely summer way.

I like Autumn clothes too - I feel more finished when I can add a cardigan or scarf and wear layers.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/08/2022 19:57

I love autumn 😍

Inthesameboatatmo · 08/08/2022 20:05

Me too. The leaves on my cherry tree are already starting to turn beautiful autumnal colours. Its my favourite season .

Unforgettablefire · 08/08/2022 20:09

I hate the cold 🥶 hate it. If I had the money I'd move somewhere it never got cold.

JustlookingNotbuying · 08/08/2022 20:11

September and October are my most favourite months.
I hate the dark nights of winter but the mellow days and night-time coming around 7pm in Autumn suits me just fine.
Before having the kids we always had a little UK holiday in September, I love the fact places were more deserted and less hectic, it often felt like we had the place to ourselves. Just wish September lasted much longer than 30 days!

JustlookingNotbuying · 08/08/2022 20:14

And I also purchased these the other day, I couldn’t resist. I am going to have a go at making my first ever autumn door wreath.

I could live in autumn all year long , crisp mornings and evenings , stillness in the air , warm mellow days , gorgeous colours.
I love thinking about adding warm cosy throws and cushions and extra candles , extra cosiness.
October half term is my favourite school holiday and i love Halloween.
I'm off to the sea in October and i can't wait, autumn seaside is my absolute heaven, indian summer even better.
I love it when i hear someone say 'the nights are drawing in ' .
I love an autumn appreciation thread 😊

sanityisamyth · 08/08/2022 22:18

Cannot stand autumn. It's pretty but it's death and decay. It's life shutting down. Find it bloody depressing.

MorrisZapp · 08/08/2022 22:26

September here in Edinburgh is extra special. The festival crowds have gone, and the students haven't yet come back. We often get lovely weather, and the kids are back in school. Absolutely perfect walking, shopping and cafe hopping time. I love it.

crochetmonkey74 · 09/08/2022 08:03

I'm glad I have found like minded autumn lovers

I like autumn, until the clocks are put back, which I wish did not happen.

lollipoprainbow · 09/08/2022 08:55

Yes it's my favourite season I adore it.
