Anyone want to chat about Autumn?

I'm actually enjoying the summer, but I'm a real autumn person. I love the back to school feeling of September, the first smoky smell of autumn in the air, the crisp air and lovely coloured leaves. Anyone else want to share how much they love it or what you are looking forward to?

I love autumn and am especially looking forward to it after this incredibly hot summer! The misty mornings, colourful leaves, red wine in front of a log fire, pumpkins and gourds. I love how cosy it is. And it’s the perfect temperature to run outside so I am always at my fittest. I spend more time outside in autumn than any other time of year.

I'm still enjoying the summer, however, funnily enough I tend to spend more active time outdoors during Autumn. I love an autumnal walk/run finishing at a country pub!

I hated Autumn when I lived in the UK, because it meant the start of at least six months of miserable weather, and the lead up to going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. At least here in Oz Autumn is still sunny and nice, then we have three months of rain and storms and colder weather( in the mid-teens), before it starts to turn sunny again. Spring is approaching here, my daffs are starting to come out, and I can't bloody wait!. Stuff you, season of mists and mellow sodding fruitfulness!

Autumn is my favourite.

Please can someone answer my question about why they prefer artificial light to natural light (which is free).

I hate the long dark evenings. They depress me.

For me personally, the outdoor daylight is just too high of a blue frequency and I rarely leave the house without sunglasses and a wide brim hat to keep the sun out of my eyes. Whilst direct sunlight is around 4500K, a cloudy day can actually be a higher frequency of around 6000k because of the reflection of white light light on the clouds. Indoors there is of course much more control and it probably helps that I have a lighting designer DH with program controlled leds wired all over the house controlled for specific places.

I have photosensitive eyes @Blackdiame so I do wear sunglasses more frequently than most people, but thank you for your explanation. I still need good light to see well though. None of these 40 watt (or equivalent) lightbulb for me.

Looking forward to autumn, my favourite time of year. Added bonus that my next door neighbour won't be up at 6am watering her garden (with her banned hose) and waking me. Obviously thinks hose is invisible at that hour of the day!

Bugs and sleep.

It gets to the point where you need the light on to see, but it’s still too hot to have the windows shut. So you either sit completely in the dark and twiddle your thumbs or you end up with a room full of moths and things that buzz and want to snack on you.

Quite often we need to go to bed anywhere between 8-10pm depending on how early we have to get up for work. And if there aren’t hordes of kids playing outside and shouts from the pub garden 200 yards away, we’re laying there trying to convince ourselves it is actually night time.

And the lighting from lamps makes it cosy, which I’d take over sweaty any day of the week.
