What are your barely related celebrity connections? Not the "I'm Bruce Springsteen's Sister " type but the much more loosely connected "Friend of my Uncle's milkman's brother" kind?

My first boyfriend when I was 15 was a professional footballers cousin. Never met him though.

wonderstuff · 23/07/2022 12:55

I’ve got a few, going to be a bit stingy on details though I’m afraid.
My friends brother is married to the sister of a moderately famous singer.
Also the step father of one of the kids in my sons year group was in Strictly.
Rock and roll around here!
AND my Nan was at the same psychiatric hospital as Keith Chegwin when he was being treated for alcoholism.
Keith Moons mum taught at the school my parents went to.

Louise0701 · 23/07/2022 12:56

My cousin is married to one of the England football team.

My sisters SIL married the heir of a large, well known British company.

IncompleteSenten · 23/07/2022 12:56

My great aunt's cousin dated Joe Cocker before he was famous. She dumped him because he was a heavy drinker.

My mum was, well, a groupie I suppose, in the late 60s/very early 70s. Hung around with Gilbert O'Sullivan and others. Apparently. I have no evidence this one is true and she used to claim she was engaged to him which I only found out was a lie a few years ago so 🤷.

But the Joe Cocker one is true.

ANewNameForThisThread · 23/07/2022 12:57

I forgot to put mine.

My Mother's friend's nephew is married to a very well known chat show host.

I'm friends with the best friend of one of the people who took/created(depending on your pov) one of the most famous photos in the world.

I have one! I took my son to London for a weekend to celebrate his 30th birthday. He has LDs, autism and mobility problems. We'd had a lovely meal in Chinatown and were walking down Shaftesbury Avenue when he had a meltdown and sat on the steps of some Theatre, swearing and cursing loudly.
Suddenly a young woman, in a group of other people, came up and asked if he was from XXXX a place in NE that we WERE indeed from. (obviously recognised the accent from the swearing)😁
She recognised him as she'd done many drama workshops with him, decorated his walking stick with tinsel one Xmas.
She asked what we were doing there, told her and asked her why she was in London 'Oh, I work here now'
'What's your name?' I asked, hoping a chat would cheer the grumpy one up
'Charlotte'
'Miss who though?'
'Riley' she said. I'm still none the wiser.
She chatted to son, did the trick, cheered him up and we said our goodbyes.
Told oldest son who asked me did I even know who Tom Hardy was? No, I didn't.

BarrelOfOtters2 · 23/07/2022 13:18

Razor light played in my neighbours back garden.

Sparklingbrook · 23/07/2022 13:18

i grew up in the same place as the two founding members of Duran Duran, it's fair to say that their parents were very nice about it all when their fame took off.I think they quite enjoyed the visiting fans.

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 23/07/2022 13:20

Oh and used to drink in the music venue where two of the kaiser chiefs worked.

I have been obsessed with Ricky Wilson for approximately 22 years now 😂😂

Watto1 · 23/07/2022 13:23

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 23/07/2022 13:28

My midwife was Gareth Gates mum.
My dad was friends at school with an actor from the Bill and the person that wrote the wombles theme song.

MunchMunch · 23/07/2022 13:29

My paternal gm back in the 60's was friends with the Krays and apparently was in that kind of business. We never had anything to do with her including my dad apart from every now and again (years and years in between) he might speak to her in the phone or she might call in when she's visiting her "family"

Dh is related (distant cousins) to someone who was once in Emmerdale and has been in another tv show. A few weeks ago he found out his gm is cousins with an ex-footballer of our local team and is regarded as a bit of a legend round here.

lightand · 23/07/2022 13:30

Am a friend of a friend of someone who is in the Cabinet. Not a celeb exactly, but you get my drift.
