What are your barely related celebrity connections? Not the "I'm Bruce Springsteen's Sister " type but the much more loosely connected "Friend of my Uncle's milkman's brother" kind?

My granny's aunty married JM Barrie's nephew

According to my English teacher, his English teacher's grandfather was John Logie Baird

I sang a solo in front of Justin Welby a few months before he was made AoC

Interestingly, my sister sang a solo in front of Rowan Williams a few months before etc

(I have another three sisters, if anyone has any requests)

I appeared on stage with James Callis (who was appalling at learning the part)

overitall1 · 23/07/2022 13:38

My niece had a famous coronation street actor at her wedding.

I went to the same school as a member of the '66 World Cup winning England team and I was sent to interview him for the school magazine early in '66. When we asked him at the end who he thought would win the Cup he said England, how we laughed on the bus home......

As a teacher I had a future Premier league footballer and a future murderer in the same class.

MothralovesGojira · 23/07/2022 13:39

I have several!

My BiL's friend was found in a compromising position with Orville in Keith Harris' dressing room by Keith and Keith's wife who were not amused

My DP was a certain ITV News correspondance's superior when they were in the Scouts

My aunt used to live next to Tiswas' Sally James and would note down what she did/where she went and then phone my nan weekly to tell her what her good friend Sally had been up to that week

My MiL had the fright of her life in the 1960's after seeing Ian Mcshane in his pants coming out of the bathroom - her MiL used to take in boarders in her large London house

In my head all I can hear, reading this thread, is the very old song 'I danced with a man, who danced with a girl, who danced with the Prince of Wales'!

GiantKitten · 23/07/2022 13:49

My daughter’s friend is married to the brother of the wife of a very well-known musical TV programme presenter.
(I could have put that more succinctly but I like it like this 🤣)

TheGirlWhoLived · 23/07/2022 13:49

And apparently according to my dad, sat in the same train compartment when I was a little girl early 1960’s as Sir Malcolm Sargent the conductor

Knittingnanny2 · 23/07/2022 13:50

And my mum went to school with Diana Dors when she was called Diana Fluck

woolwinder · 23/07/2022 13:52

In 1968 I was a member of John Peel's 'Perfumed Garden', a kind of mailing list for hippies. They organised a 'gathering' at Harlow Mill in Essex. I was in the house in a room where the free food was. Marc Bolan came in, took a look at the food, mainly bowls of coleslaw, and bread rolls, nodded at me, and went out again. Later I saw Richard Neville, the editor of Oz magazine. I knew a girl who claimed to have slept with Anthony Burgess, and still know someone who was at Cambridge with Miriam Margolyes.
