What are your barely related celebrity connections? Not the "I'm Bruce Springsteen's Sister " type but the much more loosely connected "Friend of my Uncle's milkman's brother" kind?

When they were teenagers DH had a fight with David Arnold, the composer of loads of film scores.
And DDs best friend was on the same course as Ellie Goulding at uni.

My neighbour once stayed in a holiday cottage in France the week after Fi Glover. Didn't meet her, just read her comments in the visitors' book.

I am friends with the sister of a well known newsreader and I once went to a wedding and was seated next to a very famous singer from the 60s

JustDanceAddict · 27/07/2022 13:12

I have met two pretty famous actors through their wives - both live locally to me.
Both actors came to prominence in the 2000s - one I knew before he was famous. One after. They’re both v unassuming.
i have a photo of one and my dh at a kid’s bday party both holding their respective 2nd borns!!
My parents were friends w Melvyn Hayes from It Ain’t Half Hot, Mum in their younger days (showing my age here).
i was at uni with a DJ who I’ve seen on TV in those ‘compilation’ music shows.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 27/07/2022 14:18

Apparently David Essex's grandchild is a pupil at the school I work in.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 27/07/2022 14:20

i grew up in the same place as the two founding members of Duran Duran, it's fair to say that their parents were very nice about it all when their fame took off.I think they quite enjoyed the visiting fans.

You grew up not far from me and possibly went to the same secondary school 😂

BurnDownTheDiscoHangTheDJ · 27/07/2022 19:36

Related via an illegitimate child to Ringo Starr (i.e his family member and my family member had an affair and had a kid). Also his grandparents lived next door to my Dad when he was a kid. He met all the Beatles when they came for a visit! They hung out together in the garden.

Knittingnanny2 · 27/07/2022 19:37

I’m related through marriage to the author who wrote the stories which Nanny McPhee was based on

IfIGoThereWillBeTrouble · 27/07/2022 19:56

When I was a teenager about a hundred years ago, I had a Saturday job in a shop and a couple of times I was told I’d just served the actor from Van der Valk…….whom I had never heard of, hence why I didn’t recognise him.

jewishmum · 27/07/2022 20:06

My grandma told Tom Jones to get to the back of the queue.

B1rd · 04/08/2022 13:53

I live next door to Mr Bean's ex sister in law.
I used to go out drinking with Bernie Clifton's son.
I did a space hopper race with one of the band members from 911 when his daughter was at the same school as mine. You could see me face plant on the video he posted on Twitter.

CherryRipe1 · 04/08/2022 18:36

I thumped Malcolm McLaren once. He rushed out of a club pushing everyone in the queue flying and stamped on my foot, quite heavily & barged me out of the way so I whacked him in the back as he flounced off.

FunkedUp · 04/08/2022 20:49

I served Robin Cousins a coffee years ago
He's an arrogant arse

I've stood behind Claire from Steps in a checkout queue, she's really rather beautiful and very polite

I stood next to Howard Marks the drug dealing dude in a bar in Leeds in the late 90's

ZarquonsSandals · 04/08/2022 22:01

Another one. The husband of one of my relatives makes Hannah Cockcrofts racing wheelchairs.
