What are your barely related celebrity connections? Not the "I'm Bruce Springsteen's Sister " type but the much more loosely connected "Friend of my Uncle's milkman's brother" kind?

My friend’s mum lives opposite Eddie Redmayne’s parents.

My sister keeps bumping into Nigel Farage.

A friend of mine lives next door to Hugh Grant, who she finds quite rude and grumpy.

I was once asked on a date by a pissed Jeremy Clarkson.

MysteryCallWTF · 23/07/2022 16:42

I got pissed with Audrey off Corrie and Pat off EastEnders in a hotel after we were all on a chat show together

I sold Morrissey some candles

My dad was mates with Tom Jones when they were young men in the valleys. Tom borrowed some money from my dad to buy a packet of cigarettes and wrote him an IOU on the fag packet which my dad kept. He never got the money back however

The teenaged Gary Barlow used to come round and take photos of my BIL’s fancy car.

Jeremy Beadle complimented my mum’s perfume.

Someone I worked with spent the day with Princess Di. She was nannying, and her wards were at a party. Diana spent the party chatting to my ex-colleague, and a few weeks later she drove past her in London; Princess Di was waving frantically!

My youngest DS is lifelong friends with the daughter of a very successful actor.

That’s all I have…

Another! My husband is a postal worker and he delivers to a well-known actor of stage and screen. We were invited to his house for dinner once (we declined because we are both very shy and he's a fecking Knight of the Realm). He once tipped DH with a yearly membership at the Picturehouse. I won't say who it is because it's outing, but he's been in loads of British and American films, worked for Steven Spielberg etc al.

DomesticShortHair · 23/07/2022 16:47

My ex-partner’s mum used to own Fat Boy Slim’s mum’s old washing machine.

ANewNameForThisThread · 23/07/2022 16:55

Another. My Aunt went to school with a certain Scottish singer who recently attended the wedding of my Mother's friend's nephew when he married very well known chat show host.

My ex-partner’s mum used to own Fat Boy Slim’s mum’s old washing machine.

This might be my favourite one yet though they're all amazing.

My boyfriend's friend is Jennifer Arturo's husband, apparently he's a nice guy and Jennifer has always been quite arrogant.

My late DH was the Krankies' postie.

saveforthat · 23/07/2022 17:03

My Mum was friends with the Krays Mum, well more neighbours than friends really.

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 23/07/2022 17:04

I worked for a top end caterer and stepped over a very very drunk very young ginger prince (when he was a prince lol!)

Lovelystuff · 23/07/2022 17:09

My excellent driving instructor was Jack Ryder’s (from Eastenders) mum. She never mentioned it and only worked it out years later.

AKnitterofThings · 23/07/2022 17:25

My ex was a gardener for Christine Mcvie (Fleetwood Mac) and I answered the phone when she rang the house on evening.

SweatyAndGrumpy · 23/07/2022 17:28

My step dad is a cousin, twice removed from Kate Beckinsale.

That's it. That's all I got Grin

trevthecat · 23/07/2022 17:30

My great grandfather was friends with Anne Frank's family.

Giggorata · 23/07/2022 17:37

My friend's niece was a Bond girl.

My now deceased MIL did Charles Hawtrey's (Carry On films) tax returns.

A friend of mine dated the son of one of the Dad's Army cast.

One of DM's friends was a famous screen copper.

My cousin was an Australian rock star. I never met him.

KimWexlersPonyTail · 23/07/2022 17:39

My cousin shared a flat with David Bowie when he was David Jones
I sat behind Billy Connelly at Wimbledon.
I worked for a pub landlady who knew the Krays
I once sat on a table next to John Travolta in Athens. Very much post Grease and pre Pulp Fiction, so kind of viewed him as a has been!
My friend was the original backing musician for Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyed Webber, their early stuff was rehearsed in my friends mums front room.

KimWexlersPonyTail · 23/07/2022 17:42

A Bond Girl from Octopussy came from my home town, she only had one line and swanned around our town like some Hollywood mega star. Think she msy have got one episode of Crossroads.

BearSoFair · 23/07/2022 17:46

I share a mutual friend with Andrew Scott. She doesn't see him much these days but says whenever they do catch up he never changes.

TheMess · 23/07/2022 17:47

My DM always claimed she was at some sort of summer camp with Melvyn Bragg in the late 50s. Her insight into the teenager who would go on to become Mr Cumbria was: 'he wore a cravat'.

Lavenderbythefrontdoor · 23/07/2022 17:47

Used to have an aunt we visited every Christmas day. My much older cousin hung around in the circles of professional footballers (Glasgow Rangers). One morning, a professional footballer came to the house to meet cousin. Popped into the living room to give his hellos and Merry Christmases to everyone. All very pleasant and normal. Turns out I was the only one from my family who knew he was "famous". Probably a nice experience for a guy who was likely harassed most days of his life in Glasgow lol.

Horriblewoman · 23/07/2022 17:49

A member of an Indie band from the late 90s /early 2000s has been texting me builder recommendations!

FizzyStream · 23/07/2022 17:59

catinboots123 · 23/07/2022 17:59
