Just had a go at seeing what it would cost at M&S/Ocado (done online so had to go through Ocado, but chose M&S products where available).
Total came to £143.57 if anyone is interested.

takeitandleaveit · 24/07/2022 11:36

I've been shopping again - do you want another go?😂😂
Different shop this time.

2x punnets of apricots
spring onions

11 pounds 50 but I don’t live in the UK and I’ve come to that amount thinking back to a holiday a few years ago.

Well depends were you shop is it from M&S or Aldi

fetchacloth · 24/07/2022 19:02

I reckon around £175 in sainsbury or tesco, probably over £200 in waitrose.

I'm guessing these are processed:

4x premium individual steak & ale pies
Halloumi fries
2x Goats cheese lattice tarts
Frozen skin-on fries
Mini hash browns

  • *mushy peas, baked beans microwaveable rice pouches small wensleydale small gruyere pack sliced ham pack sliced chicken stuffing mix angel cake slices cereal bars 8x croissants cream crackers Viennese biscuits

Many of which will be ultra processed (those in bold are my guess)

HandyGirl76 · 24/07/2022 19:09

Is this a stealth advert?

TheChosenTwo · 24/07/2022 19:14

Well I was waaaaaayyy off, I shop on ocado mainly and then get top ups at Waitrose/Sainsburys as both are roughly the same distance from my house.
i estimated about £200-220 but genuinely have no idea how much cat food stuff is as I have never bought it and even going down the aisle in the supermarket makes me heave so I avoid it!
things vary so much in price anyway, you can buy a litre of olive oil from as little as £4 to add much as £20 in the supermarket (probably much more elsewhere), everything has scope to be more or less.
But yeah, I’d have said quite a lot more than you ended up paying!

IwantKandixxx · 24/07/2022 19:19

£140

TLDR

Daisymaybe60 · 24/07/2022 19:29

I've just spotted this thread and am proper chuffed because I guessed at £78, and was basing that on Tesco prices, the bargain hunter's version. I thought I must be way out when I saw all the other guesses on here. To be fair, there was a lot of leeway to be had on most of the items. Why all the angst about nutritional content, though - that's not the point of the thread, is it?

For the new little list - £3.90?

PinkDaffodil2 · 24/07/2022 19:33

£180 - without knowing the shop, pack sizes etc

DomusAurea · 24/07/2022 19:40

Hiiiii OP - great shopping, excellent value - I usually make my own pizza but tonight was too hot to cook - we phoned for pizza and it was £27 for the 2 of us, way more than making your own.. but we really fancied it. That's modern life, sometimes we knit our own tofu and crochet our own rocket... sometime we don't! Hope you have a lovely evening 😀

Mollymoostoo · 24/07/2022 19:41

What a pretentious list. You can't make more than 2/3 meals from this and then people maon about the cost of living.

Imabadmummy · 24/07/2022 19:43

I see you have already posted your total.
I was looking at it thinking of how much I pay for things at Asda & guessed £85.
I am suprised its £81 at Aldi, would have expected much less, but then I did an Aldi swap a couple of times & the difference I saved was less than £10 and I had to go to another shop for some things they didn't have plus couldn't get it delivered so didn't find it worth it.

Why is it irksome if people don’t have a tv? We don’t have a tv aerial so got rid of the tv when we moved here as we couldn’t be bothered sorting an aerial out.

PMSL is there a word for when somebody proves the stereotype?
