I've been shopping again - do you want another go?😂😂
Different shop this time.

2x punnets of apricots
spring onions
malt vinegar
herbs de provence
harissa seasoning

Why aren’t you growing your own apricots op? And I hate to tell you about the hidden chemicals in store bought seasoning….

You still forgot the wine woman! (Mind you that’s full of sulphides so you’d have another lecture coming your way about that and the dangers of alcoholism)

BirmaBrite · 24/07/2022 19:57

About £95-100 ? if you shop at Aldi.

NewCatName · 24/07/2022 20:00

Have I missed the update on the second shop?

llizzie · 24/07/2022 20:06

Whatever it was, it is not a very good diet of nutrition, and therefore a waste of whatever you paid for it.

takeitandleaveit · 23/07/2022 13:22

I know they are.

Hands up all those who have ever made their own baked beans.

Plain Haricot beans, passata, garlic clove, paprika, white pepper. Warm in a pan. Delish. So much nicer than the salty sugary shite I usually buy 🤣 but I can't be arsed to make them most of the time. Beans on toast is supposed to be a minimal effort minimal cleanup tea.

Xmasbaby11 · 24/07/2022 20:07

I haven't RTFT. I'm going to say £230. Lots of expensive items, and the smaller ones add up to.

I enjoy these threads so much!

Hmm1234 · 24/07/2022 20:12

£65 if from Asda

All these comments about how terrible it is that she doesn't make her own croissants or baked beans, ought to be rearing a pig in the garden for ham etc are so funny.

So many people on this website live in fantasyland.

To be fair shop bought cakes really bear no comparison to home made but costs wise, home made wiill always be more expensive.

So far as pig related products, I would only buy free range.

Home made baked beans on the other hand are a complete waste of time and fuel.

Bean there (pun intended) still not as good as Heinz

Cindie943811A · 24/07/2022 20:19

I’ll put up my hand OP and admit to regularly making my own baked beans. Ex preferred them and we used the glut of tomatoes we had most years. However, that’s a chore that ended with the marriage!

Sswhinesthebest · 24/07/2022 20:22

Well I got to £175 but I counted the premium pies as Charlie Bighams which would be about £17 to begin with, so…

TheChosenTwo · 24/07/2022 20:23

Dh makes his own baked beans, spicy Smokey paprika style ones.
im fine with the ones out the tin with the sauce already made 😂

mamabear715 · 24/07/2022 20:24

Omg OP.
I haven't RTFT but I'm sure you will have been slaughtered.
I'm sure someone will have already told you that you could have homegrown a chicken & veg & it would have lasted you until Christmas.. :-)

Now that is what you call a Sllllooooowwwww day on MN.

Heinz are the worst 🙈 I really don't like the taste of the sauces on any of them. But it's a cheap easy tea, with lots of nutrients despite the added sugar and salt.

I've made something like that using cannellini beans. Surprisingly easy, though it was from one of those recipe box things.

darisdet · 24/07/2022 20:44

Is OP still getting a hard time about not rearing her own goats for the cheese, grinding the corn and that sort of thing? 😅

In all seriousness those goat cheese lattice tarts sound very nice.

orbitalcrisis · 24/07/2022 20:44

Without knowing the brands and/or the shop it's hard to tell, I don't buy convenience food either so I've no idea!

It’s mad isn’t it. Only wealthy people have time to muck around making everything from scratch. I find it very privileged.

Lochjeda · 24/07/2022 20:47

Mumsnet is mental. Actually gobsmacked at someone berating the op for eating and buying fucking croissants for goodness sake 🤣

Sure is - can't believe I'm top of 'trending' two days running and all I've done is go to the supermarket. Twice.

Fear not, Band of Chums, I am NOT going shopping tomorrow. At all.

Oh, and it was £3.77 in Morrisons today.

PetuniaT · 24/07/2022 20:51

It depends on how much you were able to under scan on the self checkout

kazlau · 24/07/2022 20:51

I think some ppl missed the OP’s point. It was quite a vague post but there seemed to be a lot of sniping criticism about their food choices. God knows what you’d think of mine. I also love Aldi. I live alone so eat eclectically.

Wow thats a list I can only dream of these days, and thats also more items than I manage to buy a month now!

Based on how we used to live, in another lifetime, and the pricing now, my guess would be somewhere nearer the 200 mark
