@NC12345665 I'm sorry if it read that way. It isn't easy to get across my meaning in written words - all I mean is I would rather anything else than dementia having just seen my mum die from it
I'm now absolutely petrified of getting it. Of course I would rather have neither but my risk of bowel cancer is tiny compared with dementia

I mean it's a ridiculous thread anyway when most people just put some ham on a sandwich and eat the bloody thing because they don't have the money/headspace to worry about nitrates when you're trying to balance the cost of living and feeding a family

tkwal · 23/07/2022 18:46

£135?

Isthislove4ever · 23/07/2022 18:49

@takeitandleaveit I'd make it gin after this thread and some of the mean replies. I don't understand what some pp get out of being so obnoxious 🤷🏻‍♀️ they must live a sad life.

Mythreefavouritethings · 23/07/2022 18:51

Enjoy!

tkwal · 23/07/2022 18:51

Oh, just saw your answer, that was pretty reasonable.

I know they are.

Hands up all those who have ever made their own baked beans.

I made Greek Gigantes last week. (Basically Greek style baked beans). I used the large Greek dried butter beans which turned out to be £6 a bag, it was a total faff, used loads of cooker- electricity, and they weren’t as nice as the Lidl Greek Week tins.

Theimpossiblegirl · 23/07/2022 18:55

You could have the melon and gin together. Tropical fruit punch.

So it was just a top-up shop?

No, it was more than a food top-up really. It was a storecupboard stock-up of things as well - plus we needed non-food items too. Hence the loo rolls, bleach etc.

You don't really have a pot of boiling water for rice.

80mls of cold water and that willhave all evaporated by the time the rice will have cooked!!

DM, very keen on cooking everything from scratch, did when I was a teen. Once. Then declared that it was pointless given the price of backed beans!

cicatrix1 · 23/07/2022 20:00

£155

imnottoofussed · 23/07/2022 20:02

Only read the first post so you've probably confirmed by now but I want to guess first £175

Isthislove4ever · 23/07/2022 20:13

@darisdet Just checked Sainsburys and it came to £103.63, so around £22 more. I'm actually surprised it wasn't higher.

One can of tomatoes, mushy peas and kidney beans is a store cupboard stock up? We get through 3 cans of kidney beans a week just for our dogs.

I get through zero cans of kidney beans a week. It all evens out!

PaddleBoardingMomma · 23/07/2022 21:52

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/07/2022 07:36

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/07/2022 07:38

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 23/07/2022 12:45

Off topic but ive recently discovered farmfoods. 5 nectarines or peaches are 39p. Big trays of apricots are 50p, tubs of strawberries for £1, four pink lady apples for £1. The bags of dried fruit and nuts are very cheap too. Im usually an aldi shopper and hadnt really been in before but ive been pleasantly surprised. Definitely worth a visit for anyone who lives with a pack of locusts like I do.

25 miles to my nearest one, so I'll be giving that a miss.

family up north think it's great though!

FlamingoDust · 24/07/2022 08:16

£162 is my guess before I see if you have posted the answer yet!

FlamingoDust · 24/07/2022 08:18

My guess was almost double!
