Missed the debate tonight but I did read Kemi's piece in the Telegraph and find her terrifying quite frankly and the sooner she js knocked out the better.

She really scares me. I dread to think what would happen to us if she was PM. Luckily she’s not going to be.

With the exception of TT, I assume each one of them is simply saying whatever absolute bullshit is required of the moment.

I didn't think for one second that any of them cares one jot for the misery that the last 12 years have unleashed upon millions of people.

I think they will lie and lie and lie, and not give a shit who knows it.

Refusing to denounce the Rwanda disgrace is all I need to know - they are a bunch of slithering, inept, morally-bankrupt D-listers desperately having a grab at power.

Hoping for Rishi and Kemi. Penny and Truss come across as quite aggressive, in a very bad way. Did Penny lie?

GetThatHelmetOn · 19/07/2022 08:45

I think Truss was absolutely dreadful in the debates but … I think she will be increasingly popular by Wednesday to give continuity to this dreadful regime.

Same applies for Penny, she may be nice and attractive to audiences but uninformed and a liar, much like Boris.

I think Sunack and Truss will end up in the final two and Truss will win. Labour will make mincemeat out of her and they’ll win the next election (thank god!)

the80sweregreat · 19/07/2022 12:31

I wouldn't bet on Labour beating Liz Truss or Sunak. Tories are good at winning elections, Truss will just give tax breaks and win some hearts that way and sunak may reduce inflation.
Both could come good in two years time and people might become bored of Starmer by then.
I think it'll be tough for the LP , the tories are still popular and have turned it around before now. If the tories also deal with immigration and the cost of living crisis too the old 'red wall 'won't be so quick to vote Labour again.
Never write them off when with a not very good leader!

Martin Lewis says economic Armageddon is just down the road. I can’t see anything saving them from that.

I can definitely see that happen, the tortes will just throw a bone to the masses (ie. We delivered Brexit, we are sending immigrants to Ruanda, etc) and all the people who understand nothing of economics or how tories are undermining their NHS, worker rights and benefits will vote again for them. That’s the problem with populism, you just need to blame issues on the “others”, who ever the others may be and pretend it has nothing to do with you with the faith of a prophet and the sheep follow through to be slaughtered…

GetThatHelmetOn · 19/07/2022 12:43

Not tortes, damn the autocorrect, the tories…

Blossomtoes · 19/07/2022 12:56

I don’t think they’re going to be able to brush this under the carpet somehow.

They will blame it on the Russians, even when the problem started months before Rusia set a foot on Ukraine.

The Tories will be toast at the next election with either Sunak or Truss.
I hope & pray.
