It was a terrible display. I guess this was why they took so long getting rid of Boris.
A lot of people liked Tom but I thought he seemed a little smug. "Bring in the army" isn't the solution to everything either.
Felt Rishi was the best of a bad bunch - he at least seemed to have some connection to Planet Earth and reality.
Penny Mordaunt very dull - no idea what that "180 innovations" thing was all about and her idea of a central register of people who could be called up for cancelled appointments seemed unworkable. On the trans issue - why on earth didn't she stick to her original position or give a reason for why she's since changed it? She seems to have united TRAs and GC people on something though so maybe we should give her credit for that!
Kemi Badenoch actually seemed the most likeable - she was the only one I could imagine having a conversation with even though we'd disagree on everything. But her pitch was hopelessly incoherent - she kept saying she was the one who would be "honest and upfront about tackling problems" but her reaction to Net Zero is "it's too difficult" and elsewhere she's said "housebuilding" is too difficult. So what are these "difficult problems" she thinks only she has the strength to confront.
Truss was woeful - her delivery was wooden , her "ideas" for the economy lacked any basis in reality and the Thatcher imitation is just embarrassing. Thatcher's politics were not mine and I think she did a lot of damage but as a political heavyweight she was light years away from anyone on this panel.
The Labour Party did produce this rather funny video about it all.
