Here is the old thread... let's keep on top of what's going on!

"In a democracy we have a brilliant PM brought down by ex employees feeding guff to the msm."

He was brought down by his own MPs for lying repeatedly to the point he was was an electoral liability.

No more, no less.
Glad you like the bad apple spoils the barrel. It seems appropriate.

Notonthestairs · 20/07/2022 14:47

Meanwhile inflation is at a 40 year high.

derxa · 20/07/2022 15:39

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/07/2022 14:36

Thanks Quia. That was exactly my point. I really don't think it was churlish and I'm sorry that @derxa does. She is someone whose posts over the years I've enjoyed and learned from (especially on farming issues)

Why thank you Bore Grin
I'm just finished doing some sheep work. Treating ewes for maggots. Maybe you see BJ as a maggot but I don't. He's a flawed human being who should never have been PM. Doesn't mean I hate him. Life's too short

Roussette · 20/07/2022 15:46

One bad apple. It's ludicrous. In a democracy we have a brilliant PM brought down by ex employees feeding guff to the msm. Yes he's gone, no I'm not sobbing or loosing sleep over it but if any of you had a teensy bit of awareness you would realise the msm should not run the country

I can imagine where you're getting this nonsense from. We can observe him in action, we can see the lies, we can fact check and we are not morons who get all our info from the papers.

What's the excuse for all his MP's resigning then? Are they in the thrall of the MSM and don't even have a teensy bit of awareness?

If that's the case, it's a worry that they were elected in the first place.
He had to go.
He's gone. And personally I could not be more delighted. We'll cope with the next Tory MP when it happens.

I don't either. Hate is too destructive for the person that hates. I don't like him, I don't like his character, or his lying, but no hate here. He's buggered up his big chance and that's something he has to live with.

That should read we'll cope with the next Tory PM... not MP!

I thought you were a bit presumptive assuming the Tories could win a by-election anytime soon.

Calling Starmer a bollard may backfire anyway. Mumsnet loves a bollard.

Delurking just to applaud this😂😂, thanks Piggy for making my afternoon!

Roussette · 20/07/2022 15:56

I have just watched on youtube the last 3 mins of PMQ, the final words of BJ, the hasta la vista bit.

Theresa May doesn't clap. He shakes a few hands, walks very quickly out, with Dorries literally running after him.
She is a bit odd I have to say.

I wonder if she'll keep her job when the new PM is appointed?

Plot twist: Tory members will be able to CHANGE their vote between august and September.

You can vote by both post and online. And only the last one will count…"

This seems like a strange move. Administratively very awkward. I guess it means if a candidate gets wind they are not gaining votes they can change their offerings. I think it will lead to the election becoming dirtier.
Very odd.

Obviously it will also suggest voters should get a chance to revise their own votes in other ballots. What is good for the Conservative membership etc.

NEW: SUNAK AND TRUSS PROCEED TO MEMBERSHIP VOTE

Sunak: 137
Truss: 113
Mordaunt: 105

Mordaunt eliminated from contest.

Sunak or Truss will be Britain’s next Prime Minister.

My tame Tory is very grumpy. More mutterings about it having to be “fucking Sunak”.

We're up to 966 posts, someone start a new thread just to annoy the ardent Tories who pop in for a cuppa from time to time

Truss V Sunak. What a choice.

Hold folk to account yes but the widespread msm witch hunt started by them wailing 'higest death toll!' In 2020 which we know is bollocks has been absolutely relentless and farcical

I’m honestly surprised anyone can claim msm shenanigans against BJ when we had a massive example of exactly whose ears he could whisper in to make stories he doesn’t like disappear. It was utterly brazen.

if anything BJ was a loose cannon who had fulfilled his purpose and didn’t warrant the protection he previously enjoyed.

I agree lots of the msm hold far too much power and influence, but let’s face it, BJ is part of the corruption not a victim of it.

For the Labour party.

So Liz Truss is going to be our next PM. Oh dear.

I'm taking great heart that as Roussette says Liz Truss will hopefully see Labour into government at the next election.

This could all be a great test of Labour's sense of fun if they ran with the bollard analogy.

I agree that Angela Raynor should not have called Conservative MPs scum last year . she did apologize for this and it was accepted , but it certainly wasn't her finest hour
Nadine Dorries's behavior on Monday was also bad and I hope she is able to say sorry for disrupting the proceedings. It is turning the HoP into a rabble and this isn't a good look for anyone ; they all need to start thinking a bit more about how it comes across and be pulled up on name calling and shouting.
These are meant to be intelligent people with responsible jobs and should be held to account
a lot more and told to tone it down.

This.

It's not ok when either side does it.

And it's not on that one side is expected to apologise and the other side aren't.

That's always my issue. The difference in expectations. No other workplace would that disparity be excepted.
