Here is the old thread... let's keep on top of what's going on!

I think it would be a great idea if the PM also got first-hand experience of how people on minimum wage work. Any job, as long as it's hard work and allows the employee to just about scrape by (if they're lucky) or wonder how on earth they're going to stay warm and fed next winter.

Shame he never got a grasp of how his own job works!

Roussette · 18/07/2022 16:28

A very interesting article on Liz Truss. Her dissing her school (that was under a Conservative Govt whilst she was there) has gone down really badly. She got to Oxbridge from that school, and pupils who were there at the same time as her are very aggrieved. Here

"Another friend who, like Truss, received an education at Roundhay that helped win an Oxbridge place, added: “She made it to Oxford – if people still think that’s worth something – and is in the running to be the world’s worst prime minister no 2. So how bad can it have been?”
“Truss is basically someone with a massive chip on her shoulder who can’t work out what tribe she’s in,” said another friend, from the year below me. “She used to describe herself as brought up in ‘Yorkshire’ (county fairs, moorland, Geoff Boycott), to curry favour with the rural upper-middle classes she wants to be part of in Norfolk. She now claims to be from a Ken Loach film, T’Red Wall, in the hope that the 2019 intake of Conservative MPs will like her, or more importantly for her, accept her.”

I think she will do literally anything for her career.

'I think she will do literally anything for her career.'

God, a strong determined woman. Discusting. All these alleged former friends do like a gossip don't they!

Peregrina · 18/07/2022 16:34

Thankfully though we had him for the pandemic or else the alternative would've been catastrophic. Often said, but he got the big things right and we all know it.

God help anyone who thinks that 200,000 plus Covid deaths on his watch is getting the big calls right. What we do know is that the man is a brazen liar, who can't even resign properly.

DuncinToffee · 18/07/2022 16:37

Calling out lies is now gossip?

Truss claims to have grown up in a “red wall” seat. This is not just a wilful anachronism, it is flatly untrue. Leeds NE constituency contains both Roundhay school & the tall stone houses in which Truss & I grew up, was Conservative from 1955 to 1997”

Gossip? All Truss’s education was under a Tory government. The “dreadful” school was in a Tory constituency. It was so bad she got a place at Oxford. She’s as economical with the truth as Johnson.

And Badenocke’s got as little integrity, she’s changed her stance on Net Zero overnight when she found how unpopular it was.

No. Someone dissing her school to try and get the top job and please her backers. It got her to Oxbridge, what an awful school Hmm

The alternative being Jeremy Hunt?

Please list the 'big things' and how he got them right Janiie

You've got to admit the flip flopping on stances is quite funny!

God, a strong determined woman

if the best defence against criticism is to fall back on misogyny rather than reaching for examples of her achievements showing that she’s strong and determined and holding them up for scrutiny then I’m afraid that pulling that card isn’t really going to wash for a lot of people.

Blossomtoes · 18/07/2022 16:44

I find it quite scary @Roussette, especially when they have the audacity to talk about restoring trust.

Cornettoninja · 18/07/2022 16:45

I mean Priti Patel is undeniably strong and determined, she’s also cold hearted and sociopathic by all accounts.

And Braverman,

We dodged a bullet there!

Blossomtoes · 18/07/2022 16:50

Hopefully we’ll dodge Badenocke as well. What is it with them?

Yes, when I say 'funny'... it's funny in an ironic and totally scary way. Shock

Who the hell are we going to end up with, it doesn't bear thinking about. 5 more weeks of this bitching and backstabbing until 0.2% of the population decide on the next leader.

By Sunday night the knives were out and it was every Tory for themselves

Commons Speaker forced to remind him: "It's actually the Government that has put it down for today".

Whatever one thinks about Margaret Thatcher (and I’m no fan) she was authentic and true to her roots - also possessed of a first class intellect.
This lot are mostly just dimwit carpetbaggers, and Truss is the least authentic public figure I’ve seen in a very long time.

Asked why Boris Johnson was able to find the time for a joyride on an RAF jet but was unable to find the time to attend any of the COBRA meetings on the heatwave, his spokesman says that it is important for the PM to have a "firsthand" experience of how fighter pilots work."

I think it would be a great idea if the PM also got first-hand experience of how people on minimum wage work. Any job, as long as it's hard work and allows the employee to just about scrape by (if they're lucky) or wonder how on earth they're going to stay warm and fed next winter.

Or a voyage on a nuclear sub? They normally last months so would give us all a break.

Clavinova, do you think it is ok for the Foreign Secretary to meet with a ex-KGB lieutenant-colonel without his security detail or Foreign Office officials, at the height of the Skripal poisoning crisis?

Yes or No?

I've got this.

Jeremy Corbyn met with Jerry Adams, there is even a photo in this link.

DuncinToffee · 18/07/2022 17:31

Jeremy Corbyn

Boris Johnson gives way to Jeremy Corbyn, who says: “I’m grateful to the PM for taking a break from his fantasy tour of this country.” He says there are “more food banks than branches of McDonalds” and “big Pharma have made so much out of owning the patents of the vaccines”.

DuncinToffee · 18/07/2022 17:32

Full thread

“We delivered on every single one of our promises”, says Boris Johnson in no confidence debate - a statement which is, just objectively, incredibly untrue.

Jesus the whole 'went on a trip without security detail' is a becoming a bit like 'BJ got a BJ while his wife was battling cancer', the oft repeated rubbish on previous threads which wasn't true. These threads seem to thrive on Rousette and others just gossiping.

As clavinova said 'The Met said it could not discuss Johnson’s security arrangements when he was foreign secretary. “We simply do not discuss matters of protective security of this nature. If we confirm or deny that officers went on certain trips with certain people, then it could impact or undermine our security stance and operations in the future'.

Now BJ has been 'partying all weekend' 🙄. You must calm yourselves he will be gone by sep 5th!! Deep breaths and maybe keep out of the sun.

The rubbish people repeat.

There was someone on here a while back go on and on about Johnson's birthday party being legal because he was at it for less than 12minutes and 94 seconds, as though if one goes to a party for longer than that, it suddenly becomes a crime.

DuncinToffee · 18/07/2022 17:38

Someone also claimed it was no party if you drink orange juice

SueSaid · 18/07/2022 17:39

'The rubbish people repeat.'

I know. Thread 11!

Poor SirBeer stumbling and stuttering like a nervous schoolboy. Public speaking isn't his thing is it. At least Ange gives it all barrels even if it is usually twaddle.
