I just finished watching it. It made for some uncomfortable watching as you can see it playing out in real life.

The PM did chair the Cobra meetings.

Which Cobra meetings? All the papers and news channels seem to be saying he wasn't at 2 last week or one today.

I'm hot and getting confused.

DuncinToffee · 18/07/2022 12:13

Sorry ancientgran, I meant the fictional PM in Undeclared War

It looks like there was one on Saturday but he was too busy getting ready for a party on Sunday and one today, not sure when the other one was so it looks like one on Saturday and one today plus another I can't see a date for . All about the heat wave.

Notonthestairs · 18/07/2022 12:19

I can understand the wish to sweep it all under the carpet. He's leaving so what does it matter?

However, lies matter. They have consequences, not least the erosion of standards.

We are right to hang on to some expectations of propriety and transparency.

Johnson won't be out of the headlines anytime soon. The Privileges Committee will continue to investigate whether he misled Parliament. The Covid Inquiry will review the Governments handling of events. Pincher is still in office. The Mail will continue to write stories rewriting history, ignoring facts and positioning Johnson as a victim.

5th September is one step.

Besides which you'd be a fool to think Johnson will feel a great deal of loyalty to the incoming PM (whoever it is). He'll continue down whatever path suits him best.

Blossomtoes · 18/07/2022 12:22

He’ll sit on the back benches throwing shit just to prove when they lose the next election that they couldn’t do it without him. He’s so transparent.

DuncinToffee · 18/07/2022 12:24

FFS, tax payers money spent on a jolly for a caretaker?

Adam Bienkov

Boris Johnson's spokesman is unable to say what the Prime Minister will be doing instead of chairing today's emergency COBRA meeting on the heatwave.

Asked why Boris Johnson was able to find the time for a joyride on an RAF jet but was unable to find the time to attend any of the COBRA meetings on the heatwave, his spokesman says that it is important for the PM to have a "firsthand" experience of how fighter pilots work."

The PM does have a specific role in directing RAF action in worst case scenarios. And so it's important that he is aware of some of these capabilities," he says.

What a load of bollocks. He's been sacked from the job, why the hell does he need this. It was a jolly, with a photoshopped photo of him at the end. He ain't a Maverick that's for sure!

Absolutely.
He'll step down at the next election. He's got nothing to lose.

SueSaid · 18/07/2022 12:37

'Gossip? So you have no problem with Johnson meeting Lebedev at the height of the Skripal poisoning without his security?'

But Skripal himself was ex kgb. I've no problem with BJ meeting ex kgb people no. Mr Putin himself is ex and they probably had social interactions too after various meetings (before the war obviously).

Why are some of you so horrified that BJ didn't chair a meeting on the heatwave. I mean seriously its just grasping at straws. Anyway as I've said not long to go now BozoPhobes. Ice pops and paddling pools to help you power through Grin

Blossomtoes · 18/07/2022 12:40

What do you think about none of the remaining candidates wanting him in their Cabinet @JaniieJones?

SueSaid · 18/07/2022 12:44

'What do you think about none of the remaining candidates wanting him in their Cabinet'

Well they would say that wouldn't they. How funny if he ended up home secretary. It'd be smelling salts around on here.

HarrietPierce · 18/07/2022 12:47

Anyone defending Liar Johnson now, is as pathetic and amoral as those sent out on TV to lie for him.

Quia · 18/07/2022 12:47

Oh, absolutely. I think we should all encourage him to get lots of that firsthand experience as soon as possible. Whilst the weather's nice and toasty, he could go out working on road mending and drain clearing today, mending rails tomorrow morning, and sewer work in the afternoon. Then we could give him a taste of teaching a classful of stroppy 14 year olds, a nightshift in A&E, and a Saturday night as a police constable dealing with the drunks falling out of London's seedier pubs.

Quia · 18/07/2022 12:52

I've no problem with BJ meeting ex kgb people no.

On his own? In the full knowledge of concerns about Russian interference in British politics?

DuncinToffee · 18/07/2022 12:56

According to Putin, there are no ex KGB people.

But then Janiie is also fine with lying and law breaking, so no surprises there.

DuncinToffee · 18/07/2022 12:59

But thanks for answering the question Janiie.

Clavinova?

Roussette · 18/07/2022 13:01

Good god.

The Liaison Committee has a problem with it, as do many other bodies. How weird you don't. Pritti Patel was sacked for similar with Israel.

I won't be diverted from this subject by Cobr meetings... he didn't do them at the beginning of the pandemic, he's hardly likely to when he's halfway out the door.

But you being perfectly happy with him meeting Lebedev Jr. and Sr. with no officials or security present is gobsmacking. I sometimes think you just come on here to wind people up, and don't really mean what you say. It's a serious security breach and against the rules but you have no problem with it. I can only think you've got the hots for BJ. Shock

Why do you keep saying no security present when it's been mentioned a few times how the Met don't comment?

No I don't 'have the hots' <I can't believe a grown presumably women would use such terminology tbh>. I've just witnessed the complete nonsense spouted on these tedious threads so no, I'm not horrified by anything at all that you have to say.

SueSaid · 18/07/2022 13:11

'According to Putin, there are no ex KGB people.'

And yet Mr Skipal was living happily in Salisbury. But not ex kgb, no 🙄.

Roussette · 18/07/2022 13:16

I'm down wiv da kidz, don't you know Janiie?

He was on his own in the airport, I doubt he had security with him but well done you hanging on to the 'they haven't said' idea.

He had NO officials with him, that is what he has said (see my footage above).

I certainly met him without officials are his exact words. This is against protocol and a security breach.

I do think you need to accept this is not gossip considering it came out of BJ's mouth. How horrifying for you! 🤣

They didn't try and murder him for no reason did they?

It's not as if he was an OAP tending his begonias in sunny Salisbury. Russia wanted him dead.

DuncinToffee · 18/07/2022 13:24

Quite a number of high ranking Russians have died recently, check out the Ukraine threads for more information.

As for Skripal living happily in Salisbury, you have heard of golden visas?
