His responsibilities in Downing Street (and perhaps also at Chequers?) extend only to tending the pot plants and providing entertainment at parties, surely everyone knows that by now?

Here's what Penny Mordaunt claimed about the NHS during the Channel Four debate last night. Since then the tweets she posted making the same claim have been deleted from her account and her team have not responded to requests to explain what her claim was based on.

She became a reservist in 2010. She was made an honourary commander in 2019 after being Defence Secretary for 85 days before being sacked.

Daniel Craig was made an honourary commander after playing James Bond.

To be fair Daniel Craig wasn’t a reservist for nine years, Mordaunt was. I like laying into Tories as much as the next woman but that tweet really doesn’t reflect reality.

It would be amusing to see who the Daily Mail would support in a GE given the choice between Mordaunt or Keir.

Interesting that the consultant editor of The Daily Mail, Andrew Pierce, reviewing the papers in Downing Street no less, was saying that Johnson had to go the night before Johnson resigned. Mind you what is a consultant editor?

Weeeeell, it kind of is and it kind of isn’t. A reservist has to sign up for a certain number of days service a year and is liable to be called to active service if necessary. A lot of reservists served in Afghanistan. The issue is with the word “fought” as she didn’t see active service but she signed up for the possibility.

Actually I probably need to go and lie down in a darkened room if I’m defending a Tory. 😂

I think years of lies have dulled our senses if signing up for the possibility is the measure.

The Cobra Meeting was only about protecting the old and vulnerable, maintaining essential services including education - we know he doesn't give a crap about any of that.
