It's definitely going for younger (not young)

The music is definitely not aimed at me (60+) and nor are the presenters. I like them witty/interesting/knowledgeable and none of them fit that description really. Although I don't mind Sara Cox at a push and I liked it when Gary Davies stood in. So that only leaves Ken

I still mourn the loss of Simon Mayo's Drive time too. Whoever decided to force talent vacuum Jo 'clang! Just dropped another name!' Whiley on the show needed their bumps felt.

When you read the statements I don't think it was either

Hallelujah, it’s at least 20 years too late. Talking over the end of 99% of songs and singing over the end of the rest, utterly unforgivable, Pitifully unfunny, like an embarrassing cringy uncle. The show has been truly awful for years. Scott Mills is a brilliant replacement!

SW Will probably move to podcasts. I’m increasingly listening to them in the mornings rather than Zoe ‘gorgeous girl, we love him’ Ball.

Definitely time for SW to move on.

But Scott Mills?! Most overrated person on radio. He’s so dull and awkward.

(But not quite as irritating as Vernon Kay).

I'm fine with Scott Mills taking over as I avoid the SW slot anyway...and it means I won't have to suffer Mills butchering pop master and turning the Ken Bruce slot in to a shit phone in. HAPPY DAYS!

I'd rather SM didn't take over although it probably won't make much difference to me as I usually switch off Steve Wright at some point during his programme, usually when he ruins a track by singing or talking over the beginning, middle or end of the song.

When Scott took over from Ken it was pitiful, he talked far too much and Ken only has Joe Public on with Popmaster, it's one of the things I like best about his show, it's more music than boring, irritating chat with some random.

If Ken goes, that will be it with Radio 2 during the week for me. I love Ken!😍

Me too as I said upthread. Very sad to see the show go but I’m hoping another station will pick it up as it was so popular ( apart from on this thread) I’m sure.

He is extremely irritating and I can’t believe he is still there but I can’t help feeling sorry for him.

DH (who rarely express an opinion good or bad on any presenter) said he couldn't be dealing with SW dj silly boy and serious jockin and had to turn him off. He also can't stand Elaine Paige. I find Jeremy Vine really annoying, maybe they could all leave and start their own seriously annoyin (no g) radio station...? 🙏

It's time! I've never listened to Scott mills so shall not pre judge.

I've also really enjoyed vernon this week. Would love him to have the the breakfast show. Zoe is annoying and who the fuck hired Richie?! He's awful!

I would also like Vanessa to replace Jeremy "I think I sound clever but I talk complete shite" Vine.

However if they ever try and replace Ken Bruce I'll chain myself to the gates of Radio 2! 😆

I think they should have given the show to Craig Charles and kept Shaun Kearney on 6Music.

I can't stand Vernon on the radio. He's more irritating than Steve Wright.

An extra hour of Sara Cox is welcome too
