He’s just announced it!!

I'm really sad. Although I must admit that the format is a bit tired. He plays great music though. I've never listened to Scott Mills so I'll reserve judgement. Thank God it's not Rylan. He sounds like he's eating himself. Liza Tarbuck would've been great.

So surprise so many are happy about this. Each to their own of course. I just find Steve Wright comforting and a happy, upbeat show with lots of jokes and silly larkin’ no g, about. When I was at home with a new baby about 21 years ago, the show was a great comfort to me when I felt alone and a bit cut off. It’s always been upbeat. I’m sure he’ll be offered another a lot on a different station and I’ll be listening if so.

Oh god, Zoe Ball and her gasping. Ferne Cotton does it too, as if words are going to run out. I like the sound of Boom radio. I'd never heard of it.

It should have been Gary Davies or OJ Borg. I will really miss Steve Wright, made afternoon work go much faster. I believe he is doing a separate serious jockin show.

No strong feelings either way about SW, although I hate serious jockin no g. That's cringeworthy. Have enjoyed Vernon in the mornings as he's played a good variety of music, but the only DJ I can't tolerate is the one that seems massively popular...Ken Bruce! He reminds me of Terry fucking Wogan, who I also couldn't stand. My all time favourite show was Simon Mayo's Drive Time until what's-her-face joined him and the lack of chemistry was abysmal.

i very much like Evan Davies but can no longer receive radio 4 in my car

Oh no, I like Steve Wright :( him and Ken Bruce are the only R2 shows worth listening to! Sara Cox and Jo Wiley are both so irritating, as is Rylan.

R1 constantly plays newer stuff and nothing older, and R2 seems to have aged with its listeners and is only old stuff with the odd new thing thrown in

When I worked in a factory, I had no off button and no choice other than to listen to Steve bloody Wright. It was torturous.

The music is programmed into the show based on the time and demographic for the broadcast. The DJs don't choose the music.
