Sophie Raworth very aggressive with Lisa Nandy this morning, less so with Gordon Brown. I await with interest how she treats Grant Shapps.

Didn't watch it but it sounds like he got an easy ride

Grant Shapps tells the BBC that "we discover today... that behind the scenes Keir Starmer has been encouraging the unions to go on strike."

An obviously entirely untrue claim, not based on any actual reporting and left completely unchallenged

A good journalist would have followed that up with, "What evidence do you have for such a statement?" Hmm (I'd have probably added in "outrageous" or even just "bold" but there again I'm not a journalist Wink: better to keep it neutral Grin)

I read something earlier which indicated that they know they've lost the support of Waitrose Woman and are focusing on Aldi Woman instead.

Isn't it nice & modern how they categorise women by supermarkets.

borntobequiet · 19/06/2022 15:03

What with the cost of living crisis quite a few Waitrose Women will have changed to Aldi so this might not work. (I know a couple of well off women who decided to try Aldi and are charmed by it, especially the wine section.)

WaitroseAndAldiWoman · 19/06/2022 15:26

Still here and definitely still booing Boris and co. Wink

prettybird · 19/06/2022 15:26

....but they'll still use their Waitrose bags Wink

Ha! Loving the name change!

@WaitroseAndAldiWoman - I hadn't seen your name change when I posted Grin

I won't listen because my blood pressure is high enough already but Dorries will be on LBC with Rachel Johnson this evening. I am sure it will be an informative and even handed discussion.

We don't have an Aldi nearby but I prefer Lidl because of their fresh bakery, esp. the pretzels

Lidl's Pastel del nata wee tarts from their bakery are to die for Grin although I'm supposed to be following a HFLC WoE so shouldn't have any Blush Only 49p each Smile

Portuguese though so not suitable for Brexiters Wink

Who called it up thread?

What's an alternative humans rights council we can follow?

Or are they suggesting we just abolish any membership to a human rights council as a country?

She is already calling the ECHR judges racists. It is the article that replaced the Carrie Johnson story.

Rather like abolishing the ethics advisor role because Boris doesn't agree with ethics and they keep resigning on him, they are probably considering abolishing Human Rights too.

itsgettingweird · 19/06/2022 19:12

As someone who works in education it scares me about abolishing human rights because we follow so many humans rights charters in education.

If they start with ECHR what will they abolish next?

SueSaid · 19/06/2022 19:28

'As someone who works in education it scares me about abolishing human rights because we follow so many humans rights charters in education.'

I don't think anyane is suggesting abolishing human rights, this had gone through our very own rigorous judiciary process. Rather reviewing the power of a court in Strasbourg that can overide our own legal processes. Many countries deport illegal immigrants, this is nothing new.

Small point but one that I think needs emphasising more. These people are not necessarily illegal immigrants! Their cases are still being heard. And yes many countries do deport illegal immigrants but I believe mainly back to their country of origin, not some random land they picked by throwing a dart at a map.

DuncinToffee · 19/06/2022 19:35

Deporting illegal immmigrants to where Janiie? Back to their country of origin? Or to a random country for resettlement?

And the people sent to Rwanda are refugees/ asylum seekers not illegal immigrants
