Boris Johnson did not deny the bombshell report that he and wife Carrie wanted to construct a tree-top hideaway for son Wilfred - to be funded by the same donor tapped up for the refurb of his Downing Street flat

The Telegraph plumbing new depths. They really want people (women) to stay in their lane don't they?

prettybird · 25/06/2022 12:31

...from that William Stewart Twitter thread:

"Parish shouldn’t have resigned,” one MP said. “He should have just gone away with his wife for a few weeks and then come back to the job. I don’t know why the girls had to speak out like that.” Another said the witnesses were “like a turd in the swimming pool” after the defeat [my bolds]

Nice to know what they really think of the women parliamentarians and the victim blaming going on Angry - but why does it not surprise me? AngryHmm

This a good example of why it is so important to them to be able identify what a woman is.

Those messages deserve to be read far & wide. The Conservative mask of knowing what a woman is (for).
Despicable.

Shall we copy and paste it everytime someone goes, but Boris knows what a woman is?

Notonthestairs · 25/06/2022 13:16

I think that would be helpful 😉

prettybird · 25/06/2022 13:20

I think @Notonthestairs wins the prize for the best response to those that claim that at least the Conservatives still know what a woman is, in justification for their deluded continued support....

Weren't at one time women (sorry girls) the ones which were keeping the Tories in power? They won't if they carry on like that.

Peregrina · 25/06/2022 13:53

I think it's hilarious seeing the Tories (like Braverman) getting their knickers in a twist about a supposed pact between Labour and the LibDems. No one was denied the chance of voting LibDem in Wakefield, or Labour in Tiverton and Honiton. Unlike the last election when Farage stood his Brexit loons down in many Tory seats.

Then of course May had the stitch up with the DUP which no-one in Great Britain could have voted for, even in the unlikely event that they wanted to!

They really do have short memories some of these Tories. They sometimes forget that the electorate don't always have the same short memories.

Yeah although not for ages now. I think it was the 80s or 90s when that changed?

cakeorwine · 25/06/2022 13:59

They really are getting upset about tactical voting. You can't force someone to vote for a particular party and you can't tell a party they have to stand or campaign hard in an area.

Maybe they are just going to change the law so only the Conservative party can stand in an election?

DuncinToffee · 25/06/2022 14:02

Quick reminder

2010 Conservatives formed a ConDem coalition Government with Lib Dems

2017 Conservatives did a £1bn Bung Parliament deal for DUP votes

2019 Conservatives benefited from Farage’s Brexit Party withdrawing in all Tory seats

And two of those were done after the fact

It is a good sign.
They know they are up the creek and have lost the paddle, but they have no idea how to get out, so thrash around insulting the electorate.

Peregrina · 25/06/2022 16:25

You have to wonder what don't they understand about democracy.

Slagging people off for allegedly tactical voting is all they've got

itsgettingweird · 25/06/2022 17:07

Makes you wonder if all this is a hint that the next thing they change is voting and elections.

After all - if they don't like the result of decisions they do just change it

Especially after blaming Labour for the rail strikes didn't work

Although Johnson did say the Rwanda plan was David Blunkett's idea....

Agree. They are thrashing around rather than look at what is obvious to everyone else.

Tangential link to the topic but DH met with an economics professor this week. They talked about forecasts but what was interesting was that the modelling is based on Johnson not doing anything "daft" (not my word) like tax cuts or a GE. It's made me feel very uneasy.
I think he'd bring the whole house down rather than accept defeat - and there isn't the backbone in the Cabinet to stop him.

Absolutely we should.

I would dearly LOVE to know which MP said '"I don’t know why the girls had to speak out like that” regarding the tractor porn.

What clear evidence this is of the attitudes and opinions of those in power. I'm not surprised, but I am disgusted.

Michael Fabricant has been very busy with journalists lately, defending the indefensible as it were.
